Serious Sam Forever

OMGWTF?!

With a little teaser trailer to boot! I don't know when this originally went up. The trailer doesn't look all that impressive until the end when you see TONS of bad guys spawn in. It looks a lot like the first game...maybe its a remake?

*EDIT*

Yeah, its a remake of the first two games (First and Second Encounter) using the Serious Engine 2. Thats awesome.

Ha I like that they tacked on "Forever" in the title like a tiny middle finger to Duke Nukem :P

I didn't even like the games, but I am just happy to see this. It is like seeing an old friend or something.

edit:

Saw it. For some reason it looks exactly the same. I guess they are just trying to raise some funds or something. Also, that whole thing doesn't seem to be as "cute" anymore.

It's too bad things didn't click as well with Serious Sam 2 as they did with the first ... two. I've been tempted more than a few times to go back and play them recently. Considering what the games were, I imagine they've aged fairly well.

Edit: About being "cute," I think the message that the game was trying to get across is still just as valid now as it was eight years ago. Not every great game needs a big budget or have some sort of artistic value. Sometimes, it's just good to have something completely ridiculous and fun (and not crazy weird Noby Noby Boy style). The only difference now is there are a lot of other developers out there doing the same thing, but it seems the other side of the argument has gotten more entrenched as the "AAA" titles have become more bloated. Serious Sam was part of the spearhead in the sort of retro/just fun movement that's happening now. It's nice to see it survive in some form.

Is this a mod?
Or commercial product?

Yeah, that cracked me up.

Also, I like the end when he says "Duke, Freeman, Quake guy...all amateurs! I'm the only Serious action hero out there!"

I'd probably get it if it's a budget release.  I thoroughly enjoyed the games, and I've considered booting them up again from time to time as well.  I never even tried 2, and never quite understood what was so wrong with it.

Man, GOG should somehow pick-up Serious Sam: Gold Edition (First and Second Encounter).

Dev interview. Looks like a mod project. So I really have to go buy SS2 now.

Bought it from Gogamer.com recently cheap, a little bit back.

It's not on one of their madness sales right now.

Though, SS2 (Import) does go for $12.90 (before shipping).

So, it's a remake of the First Encounter using the SS2 engine?  I liked the game a lot, never got into the second one, but I'd kind of like to see something new all together.  I got excited for a second there.

The fact that it is a mod makes complete sense. Nevermind what I said earlier.
