So, like should I play Animal Crossing for the DS?  Or even Dolphin?

If you want to. Pick one, they are all basically the same.

Having spent time with them all, my favorite is the Gamecube version.  But If I had to pick between the DS and Wii version, I'd probably choose the DS.  The two games are basically the same, with the Wii version having just a few extras.  But it really works as a portable game.

I never touched the Wii version, but between the GC and DS version I would easily pick the DS. That's mostly because I played at a time when I was doing a 40ish minute train ride each day and spending most of my days on at a library. It made for a really good travel game.

I also think the portability made it easier to do all the trading. As a result, I managed to get all the types of fruit trees and such. The internet stuff actually worked from what I remember as well.

Somewhat hilariously, I just loaded up the DS version and that mole popped out of the group and yelled at me for about five minutes.  I guess I had started a game to try it out a couple of years ago and just shut it down.

Yeah, fuck that guy.
