Woo!

Scott Pilgrim vs. the World: The Game is $10, and there is a demo. CTR: Crash Team Racing got released as a PS1 classic. And then of course the  Valkyria Chronicles 2 demo for PSP.

I tried out the Valkyria Chronicles 2 demo and it was pretty fun, definitely going to have to pick it up now.

I had barely heard about the Scott Pilgrim movie, and didn't know there was a game until my brother told me about it being on the PSN store. It looks great though. He said it basically plays like River City Ransom, and the lead animator is the guy that did Pirate Baby Cabana Battle Street Fight.

I can't wait for the Xbox Live release so I can check it out.

Okay, so I never heard of Pirate Baby Cabana Battle Street Fight, but someone PLEASE FUCKING TELL ME WHY THAT ISN'T AN ACTUAL GAME?  That was like the best thing I ever saw.

I had zero interest in a movie spinoff game until I saw that.  Now I have to find out more.

That's piqued my interest in that Scott Pilgrim game a little, I remember seeing Pirate Baby Cabana Battle Street Fight at Spike and Mike's Sick and Twisted Animation Fest and wishing the guy would work on some kind of game.

I just gave the game a try (my brother bought it on PS3). Unfortunately, the over the top gore and violence aren't present in the game. To get blood at all, you use a variation of the old school Mortal Kombat blood code (ABCB something or other), and then it's just small splashes. The game is basically River City Ransom, but with lots of game references and wacky enemies. Guys wearing sports mascot style dinosaur suits that breathe fire at you, paparazzi that use flash bulbs to knock you down. At one point I was punching "?" blocks and coins were coming out of them, and when I beat the level my character (not the main character, but a friend or something) exited by jumping into a green pipe that came out of the ground..

I just gave the scott pilgrim demo a spin, and yeah...its pretty groovy. Very River City Ransom, fun 2D pixel art, and a bunch of game references. Thumbs up.
