Radeon 6850 and 6870. The new mid-range kings.

6870 is $239 while the 6850 is $179.

Both perform nearly as well as yesterday's leaders, the 5870 and the 5850. And in terms of temperature and power, these cards are excellent. AMD has a high end card on the way as well, apparently.

Meanwhile Nvidia slashed the GTX460 1GBs price to $199... which is an extraordinary amount of GPU power to have for $200!

I am still on my 8800GTX, and it still isn't doing so badly. I am planning to time my next big upgrade with Crysis 2.

I've still got my 8800 GTS 320.  Still runs everything but Crysis great.  Consolization is having a big effect.

Yeah, still rocking the 8800. Its nice that nvidia/amd seem to be keeping prices down on their new stuff, to entice people to upgrade. They probably hate that theres really no reason for anyone to upgrade for the last couple years. I still just take any new game, put settings at max, and play. Maybe I'll have to do something for Rage. We'll see.

Yeah, the last thing I want to do is upgrade before a game that pushes the limits of my card comes out.  Then I end up with either a really expensive high end card that ends up not doing all that great or I get an underpowered midrange card.

Remember when everyone built new PCs for Half Life 2 just before it got delayed a year? Good times.

Yeah, I upgraded my 9600gt to a 5770.  The upgrade wasn't huge but it was cheap enough to warrant it really.  The few games which weren't all that playable (Crysis, um....something else) all of a sudden were, and it got rid of annoying stutter in some of my games.  Past that though?  Can't see the point right now.
