Tonight at the Target they had a PS3 up and playable. I couldnt figure out if it was a demo disc with more than one demo, but the one that was up was Motorstorm so I played it.
Initially it looked great as I watched some other kid play. Lighting looked good, nice detail in the track and cars, etc. Then when I played I decided to be all critical.
There is a strange dust effect in the game, stuff I guess being kicked up by the tires. It looks like a noise shader around the rear of the car. Not sure what they were going for with that one. The terrain texture (at least when it was zoomed in on the car select screen) was kind of blocky. Maybe it was the LCD screen or something. Didnt look like there was texture filtering on it. It also could have been a "low res" mipmap while it loaded the full thing.
The flyover of the track I noticed the terrain shadows flickering. Thats just not right.
I noticed some of slowdown when the racers got bunched up in the corners.
Yeah, I'm probably being overly harsh on the game. Its pretty fun to drive minus the slowdown. It looked pretty, but if you put Xpand Rally (PC) or RalliSport Challenge (Xbox) up next to it you probably couldnt pick out the "next gen" system.
