Lugaru

http://www.wolfire.com/free-lugaru

An indy action game from a few years ago.  I've never played it but apparently it's hella fun (this is coming from a bunch of goons, if that means anything).  Anyways it's free right now if you follow the steps on the site.  Apparently you can get around the facebook step somehow but I haven't really looked into it.

I think just using that link is a way around the facebook step. Though I did follow the link from facebook...dunno if that makes a difference.

Anyway...yay free games!

So, I actually just got this as part of the Humble Indie Bundle 1, which came with the second one.  I tried it a bit and it seems generally awesome; but like any other game, doesn't run on the laptop so well, which makes reversals and the like very tough to pull off. Has anyone else really got into this?  I kind of like the Watership Down + vengeance atmosphere it's got going on.

I played a bit of it since it came with the HIB. It seems alright but I feel like I have to remember too many commands just to get by. I definitely like it better than Rag Doll Kung Fu though.

I got Lugaru HD in the Humble Indie Bundle but didn't install and fire it up until just recently. I really did not like it. It felt overcomplicated and the combat required a level of precision the controls were just too sloppy to work for. It's got you doing weird combinations of shift, spacebar, and left click, and the character just moves really sloppily. Also, the environments are really REALLY bland. What I saw didn't even look final, it looked like "ok, here's a really simple terrain with some squares placed in it, let's get our characters in and test some mechanics out" and then they released it.

I know, I'm being harsh and this is just an indie game, but it looks to me more like the start of a project, not a finished one.

I do agree with w7re. I wasn't able to get into this game. Overgrowth, its sequel, is looking pretty good though.

It looked terrible to me from the beginning and I had no idea how any of you guys could possibly be interested in it.  I kept my mouth shut.
