I like the idea of multiple cars "linking" together. I'm sure most people would trust another drive over an AI system (like Google's self driving car test). It'll definitely save gas if everyone is slipstreaming each other. Commuting times are getting crazy so the free time to do something else would be appreciated I'm sure. This could be a good temporary solution for cities while they expand subways, etc. Also if with everyone linked, it could possibly reduce traffic a bit (if every car in a line starts at the same time it could shed a few seconds).
I wonder how they are going to deal with the unexpected. Like what happens if an animal jumps out in the middle of the chain of cars? Or what happens if the lead car needs to veer out of the way dangerously to avoid something (will the other cars follow as well?)?
