My biggest problem with "y'all" is that it's always used wrong in comedy. They're trying to make fun of Southern folk, but instead come off looking ignorant themselves. "Y'all" is one unofficial form of plural "you". The English language has no plural form of "you", and it needs one desperately. That's why people invent them ("y'all", "you guys", "youse", "y'ons" . . .). But the "enlightened" entertainment people keep using it to refer to a single person. Of course it sounds stupid then. It's wrong! Saddest part is that some people who might use it will learn the wrongness and emulate it . . . I reckon.
