Valve will be making it significantly easier to use Steam on a large monitor or television screen with the introduction of a new "big picture" mode it has in development. The mode will be specifically tailored for navigation on a TV screen. It'll also allow users to interact with the digital distribution platform using a controller as opposed to a keyboard and mouse, which might not be the most elegant setup when having a computer plugged into a TV."Our partners and customers have asked us to make Steam available in more places. With the introduction of Steam on the Mac, and soon in Portal 2 on the PS3, we've done just that," said Valve's marketing VP, Doug Lombardi. "With big picture mode, gaming opportunities for Steam partners and customers become possible via PCs and Macs on any TV or computer display in the house."No release date was announced for the update, but the new mode will be shown at the Game Developers Conference in San Francisco this week.
