Buying a new case

So I have this Thermaltake case, I liked it well enough but the fan on top was getting off balance or something was lose and I would hear it tapping as it hit the edge of the rim. Eventually it would slam up against the side of the rim and stop altogether, so I just unplugged it. I looked to see if I could take it out and replace it but its built all into the panel so I figured getting a new case altogether, I think I'll avoid Thermaltake cases from now on. So now I've been looking online for some cases and I really like this one. It's Coolermaster and its at about the same price I bought the Thermaltake one for, plus the handle on top is niftly, carrying my PC around whenever I moved was always bit of a pain. So anyone have any advice for relocating parts into a new case? I've been thinking about getting a solid state drive to install for when I do the move over, but I'm not sure it would really be worth it since all you can do with SSD's at this point is just install the OS on there and Windows 7 boots up relatively fast enough to my liking.

That case is a little aggressive looking for my liking.  I'm more into sleek, modern simple designs like my Lian Li case.  But it seems like a nice enough case, and if that's your thing then I'm sure you will be happy with it.

As for moving parts into a new case, I don't really have any advice.  It's basically like doing a new build except all your components will have dust all over them.

As for SSDs, I didn't know you could only install the OS on there.  I haven't really looked at SSDs very much since they are so ridiculously expensive.

Edit:  Sorry, I didn't mean "modern".  That implies that I think your choice isn't modern, which isn't true.

Well I guess I could get some other applications on there and a handful of games... but I think swapping games in and out of that thing whenever I want something new on there would be too much of a nuisance.

When I built my computer last year, I got a Cooler Master case as well, just a simple black design thats a little simplier than the one you are thinking of getting but it works great and I haven't had any problems with the fans.

Anyone remember the big beige boxes? Yea, I've got one of those. I think I took my case from a Pentium I or II.

Oh I get it, you were speaking from a size perspective.  I thought there was some sort of other limitation I was not aware of.

I agree though.  I'm currently using close to 400 GB of my two 500 GB drives.  Going SSD just wouldn't cut it.

Edit:  Holy crap just looked at SSDs.  They are pretty confusing!  SATAII vs. SATAIII vs PCIe x4 vs. PCIe x8?  SLC vs. MLC?  And they are crazy expensive per GB, especially PCIe SLC!

You may like this one Scott. It's a mix of simple and modern which is what I like. I'm tempted to get that one but I still like the coolermaster one better.

Well I spent tonight switching over all the parts. Got them all dusted off and cleaned up but it went smooth enough. Though I did have a mini heart attack when I thought I had everything all set and hit the power switch and nothing happened. Turned out I didn't have the switch plugged into the motherboard, I missed it somehow. It was quite a bitch to get it plugged in when the power supply cords are all right there where the motherboard front power header was.

Going to go for something more restrained this time. Pyro's case looks good.

The problem with my case is that it is REALLY cramped. Can be quite frustrating, and I definitely plan to go for something roomier this time.

Yea that thing has some girth. I used to have a case with a panel door in the front, it was more of a nuisance than anything and now I avoid those altogether.
