Max Payne - Retrospective from Eurogamer
« on: Sunday, May 09, 2010, 08:27:44 PM »
Eurogamer has a look-back at the Remedy classic Max Payne.

Please, discuss your memories (good or bad) of both Remedy-made Max Payne games, if you so desire. I've got some good memories of both of these games. :)

In anticipation of MP 3, and because I have them both as part of some Rockstar Steam bundle, I've decided to play through the first two games again.  I just finished MP1, and while it does what it does very well, it did get pretty tedious at times.  I remember at the time thinking that it was short, but any longer and I just wouldn't have been having fun.  I also found it pretty difficult, at least at points.  A type of gameplay that we don't really see any more.

If I remember, Detective difficulty was a fluctuating difficulty, depending on number of times you reload a save...and it would adjust according.
Or if you were breezing though areas, it would bump up.

Hardboiled and above weren't that way - and stayed tough.
