Mystic Card Battle

Site, also a Facebook app, iPhone supposedly coming soon.

Probably only of interest to Belmont and myself. This isn't a trading card game, its actually based on the Korean card game Go Stop which is a variation on Koi Koi. They have rethemed the cards from the traditional Hanafuda to some fantasy art style. Has built in tutorial that gets you up to speed quickly and if you already know how to play Koi Koi then its real easy to pick up the new rules.

Its a free to play type game. Buying stuff seems mostly cosmetic. You get a bunch of play money to bet with as you play, which is kinda fun. Gives a reason to play smart and to know when to push. (eg, in Koi Koi you call "Koi" to earn more points. Same thing here, but when you've called "Go" for the 3rd time you get a 2x bonus to what your opponent has to pay you)

Anyway its pretty cool and free for the most part. So far I'm just playing the AI but you can play other players as well.

So it seems kinda sad that theres not much a community for this game, though its not like I don't see why. Its a great fun card game, but theres no real "stick" to it. Cosmetic items are just for show and expire after a few days. Why would you buy them? The forums on the web site are dead and I've only seen a handful of people in rooms waiting for a game. Part of that is you gain access to higher level rooms according to how much money you have. So I'm starting in the "low" rooms and maybe everyone is in the high ones already?

But someone did challenge me to a game while I was playing against the AI. He was level 4, I'm level 1...so I was worried what might happen. But really its a card game and levels dont mean anything. I kicked his ass. Twice. Took $2,000 from him the first game, and half way through the second game I got an alert that my opponent wants to leave the game soon. I guess that there so if both agree to quit they can. Well, I didnt because I didnt know where the button for that was, and games are over in like 2 minutes anyway. Figured we might as well finish it up. Oh, so thats why he wanted out...I took $40,000 from him.

So, turns out when you're playing at $2,000 per point you can lose a lot when you don't win. Some guy took almost $300,000 from me over 3 games.
