Going to starve myself until about 5pm when we eat.

Bring on the candied yams.

Happy Thanksgiving!  Heh, I have a little pet peeve with it being called "Turkey Day", though.  I actually wrote a poem about it which I read over Thanksgiving dinner a couple years ago.

Quote
it has never been “Turkey Day”.
it's a day of thanksgiving where we happen
to eat turkey

stop devouring meanings
digesting small life
the concrete impetus behind events

if you continue, we'll get stuck
with a magic rabbit and
a fat benefactor in a red suit
and the only thing left worth doing

will be to shoot and eat them too

May we all remember how bountiful our lives have been, as we will surely be reminded when we partake in the orgasmic gluttony of shoving our face full of stuffing.

I love this holiday.

We have a tradition here of having a "pre-thanksgiving" dinner. We have a big family (each of my grandparents have 9 kids, so many aunts an uncles and about 25 cousins on each side), so the pre-thanksgiving dinner is just the immediate family with a few friends. Then we have the real thanksgiving dinner with the whole family, and tomorrow is going to be a lot of leftovers. Good times. Plus lots of alcohol, that's always fun.

Pie is good, but my mom makes this stuff called "Mountain house surprise", it's seriously the most amazing stuff in the entire universe. Like, if I was on death row that would be the dessert for my last meal. As morbid as that is, it's that good. I wish we were 100 years in the future and I could digitally transmit it.

I had two big plates of food. I was so stuffed. Turkey, stuffing, corn, mashed potatoes, candied yams, mac & cheese, green beens, dinner rolls. Then for desert I had a piece of pumpkin pie, and some banana pudding. I felt so sick, but it was oh so good. I haven't ate that much in a long long time.

And I have leftovers for days.

I'm thankful for all you guys too.  You keep me young.  Or make me old.  I forget.  Either way, you screw with my perception of time, and that's always good fun.

But seriously, you're a great group of people.  I'm very glad to call you all friends.
