Endless Ocean: Blue World
« on: Friday, May 18, 2012, 06:46:56 PM »
Bought this at the meet...mistakenly. I picked up the original Endless Ocean box at Gamestop, paid for it, then in the car see they gave me Blue World. Well...whatever. I bought a box and manual online so I'm all set with the sequel!

Its a Wii game, but very pretty. Explore the oceans, make friends with fish, etc. The "ocean" is split into different areas, all fairly different from each other. You start off in a kind of shallow coral reef and then globetrot to deeper oceans, both the north and south poles, and even a river in the amazon. In each you can learn about all the fish you see, take pictures, complete missions, find treasure, etc. Some locations you can go ashore to find even more creatures.

It's quite addictive. The "story" is kinda crap and you go through it very quickly. But its not really that important. You go through the "story" because thats how you unlock all the areas to visit. Then after the credits roll you go back and have all this other stuff to do which gives you a "just one more turn" feeling. There is always some little thing to do so hours slip away as you go about them.

One cool thing is they have a camera in game so you can take photos. There are missions where magazines will request photos of specific creatures so you go take it, submit it, and depending on how good it is they pay you. If its really good it becomes the cover image! Wee! I don't know the voodoo behind how the "processing" works, but you can get some really cool looking shots. Here are some I took:
