Well I picked it up, because I wanted me some HD Painkiller. However I made a upsetting discovery after getting into the campaign. Its something I should have looked into the description before I even bought it. Which is that, its a remake of a fraction of the actual original Painkiller. There are only 14 levels here and I'm rather miffed about it. I played through the first chapter, beat the boss and went into chapter 2 realizing that there was a whole bunch of stuff that was skipped. So if you are considering buying this, keep that in mind. As for how it plays, and how the levels look in the Unreal engine, I can at least vouch that feels exactly like how the original felt and the updated textures and enemies looks really good. I did have some issues when I first got it to run. I had a lot of framerate hiccups when there were checkpoints and when large amount of enemies were spawning in and after I finished a level it would crash to the desktop. Though I did have all the graphical settings maxed out, but after I had moved the game files over to my SSD, those problems went away. So I can't say if those problems would have remained after looking into it further or after rebooting my PC. So in short, it plays and looks great, looks like all those crazy weapons are still there. Oh and about the weapons... you do start off with an additional weapon, I'm not sure if it was in the original PK, but its this buzzsaw launcher/soul catcher. It's a pretty powerful weapon as it one shot kills lots of enemies and even cuts straight through one foe and any foe behind them, it makes the game a little easier but I found ammo for it to be a little scarce. But its alternate fire this electric beam that will grasp souls and magnet them to you which I really liked and I feel its a nice feature that would have worked out for the better in the original since every enemy drops a soul and they don't last long before they disappear, this helps out tremendously with fetching those souls back to you when you are hastily running every which way taking out crowds of baddies. That guns ability fortunately has an unlimited use. But yea, I like it, its a bummer that so many levels weren't given the HD treatment (though supposedly there will be DLC for it adding those levels in, but why should I pay more for that). It's $20 right now, even though I feel that $15 is more necessary for something like this but from the one article I looked at that Idol posted and the trailers I watched, they deceivingly marketed this game as a full remake which is completely false... ah well.
