I don't think it's related to the previous The Mummy trilogy. It seems too dark.

Although, I have heard rumours that Universal are starting the Universal Monsters shared cinematic universe which includes The Mummy and other folk monsters e.g. Dracula, Frankenstein's Monster, etc.

I never saw any of the previous movies. They didn't interest me in the least. This looks ... I don't know what it looks like. Potentially interesting, maybe a little dumb?
