Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes
« on: Saturday, October 10, 2015, 11:10:25 PM »
A Let's Play of this game showed up on my Youtube recommended videos and I decided to watch a few videos and it looks like a really, really fun social game.

It appears to have been an Oculus Rift game but is now available on Steam (and may be on other consoles as well, I'm not sure).  The gist of the game is that one player will be "playing" the game and interacting with a bomb with various modules that are puzzles.  Other players, who are not allowed to see the screen, will have a manual (on paper) with instructions on how to solve each module.  Several modules are fairly complex and may require pen and paper to work through.  While the initial puzzles can be done quite quickly, it escalates to the point where multiple people are required to solve various puzzles.

It's an exercise in being able to communicate clearly and effectively.

Check out this youtube video of the hardest difficulty setting:

This one is more of an introduction to the game:

And it really reminds me of this Archer scene back in Season 1:

It looks quite fun.

So I gave this game a try and it is definitely a good party/social game.  I'd suspect that it would also be fun with some friends over skype of some other form of voice communications.  What makes it even better is that only one person needs to own the game, and the rest just use a manual.

Fun times.  If anyone is interested in giving this a try, we can see if we can get a game going.  I used to use ventrilo for voice comms way back in the day but I'm not sure what people use nowadays.
