I played about 2 hours so far. It's.. It's less than impressive.

Homefront: The Revolution has lackluster visuals, it looks like and feels like a low-budget release, on par with games like Sniper: Ghost Warrior. This does not validate the poor performance, even on a Titan X. It is, evidently, very poorly optimized.

In terms of gameplay, it's quite monotonous. I was hoping story would take the front seat this time around but it's quite bland so far. I mean, if the intro didn't draw me in, I can't have much faith in the rest of it but I'm gonna slug through it and see where it goes.

I don't know if more time in the oven would have benefited the game. It has technical issues undoubtedly but the bulk of its problems are related to the core design, which can't be fixed in patches (with few exceptions).

I finally played some coop!

Normally I can't find any players but this free weekend helped.

While it is flawed, the coop is really good! It's way better than the base singleplayer campaign!

It's got some poorly implemented ideas e.g. rewards are randomized. You can purchase "crates" to access equipment but you can't choose what you get. So if you're like me and generally prefer using a sniper rifle or DMR, you can continually get nothing but rewards for assault rifles and shotguns and some vanity items. I just want to upgrade my rifle but it's not possible unless I randomly find the upgrades.

Kinda dumb.. Ok, REALLY dumb, but at least the rest of the gameplay is pretty fun.

It's just a shame there are only a few missions.
