Sears had the Canon CP510 on sale this week for only $50. Tough thing to find, it turns out. It was a closeout item, the first store didn't have it (I was tempted to buy the display model but it was pretty beat up). The guy was nice and called 2 other local Sears stores. One didn't have any either, but the other had exactly one in stock. Crossed my fingers and went over there and I got it.
It's a pretty groovy little thing. Dye sublimation so everything looks really nice, no ink bleeding or anything (pics are waterproof). It prints 4x6 pics and you can get special paper for business cards and little stickers. I did some quick math. $30 will buy the supplies for 108 prints works out to about $0.27 per print. That ends up being cheaper than a roll of film + development. Plus I get to pick and choose which pics I print (nothing worse than getting a roll back and finding out 4-5 shots are garbage).
This will also be useful on trips since I plug the camera right into it. I take lots of pics on trips, esp with my cousins who always want copies. I never get them to them because I'm lazy and have to print and mail. Now I can print them right there for them.
