1. Groundhog Day (Harold Ramis, 1993)
2. Bringing Out the Dead (Martin Scorsese, 1999)
3. Lost in Translation (Sofia Coppola, 2003)
4. Waking Life (Richard Linklater, 2001)
5. Kwaidan (Masaki Kobayashi, 1965)
6. Rear Window (Alfred Hitchcock, 1954)
7. The Game (David Fincher, 1997)
8. Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (Michael Gondry, 2004)
9. Fight Club (David Fincher, 1999)
10. Spirited Away (Hayao Miyazaki, 2001)
11. Bedazzled (Harold Ramis, 2000)
12. 12 Monkeys (Terry Gilliam, 1995)
Completely not-scientific list off the top of my head. There are probably a lot I'm forgetting, but these films have always stuck with me. Mostly more recent films, interestingly. Harold Ramis and David Fincher are the only two directors to appear twice. I also had absolutely no idea 12 Monkeys got turned into a TV series until I was looking up the year it came out on Wikipedia. Wild.
Bringing Out the Dead frequently battles for the top slot with Groundhog Day. I really love both films. Also, Joe Connelly's novel upon which it is based (by the same name) frequently vies for my top book slot, up against Melville's veteran contender Moby-Dick.
