Thanks to older movies, I have discovered something
« on: Friday, January 26, 2007, 07:42:42 PM »
Chicks were way hotter "back in the day". Less of the whore/slut look and more the just damn cute/hot look. It was a more natural beauty.

Forget these fake chicks they give us now.

Tattoos.  That's the biggest turnoff for me on so many of the women in the more recent movies.  As with rap crap, you can go back to a recorded time when things were cleaner and just plain better.

Absolutely true.  We've got a new theater here (I think I mentioned it already) where they've been showing classics on weekends and stuff, and I've been thinking about how much more amazingly attractive all the women are.  There are just so many women that people view as attractive these days that I just can't stand.  There's just such a huge disparity between me and popular culture today.  I don't understand it on any level, sex appeal often included.

I still disagree with the tattoo thing, though.  A woman with taste and a beautiful tattoo is still sexy as all get out.  The big problem is that so many people these days have no taste, a thing often reflected in their tattoos as well.

For me it would depend on the tattoo and its placement. I wouldn't mind something small and cute/cool...on the ankle or whatever. A huge tattoo doesn't do anything for me...why mess with perfection by putting someone elses art on it? Like, think of Marilyn Monroe (or whoever)...with tattoos? Where would you put a tattoo on her that wouldn't simply be a crime against nature?

Not to mention tramp stamps and arm band tattoos should be outlawed for females.

Though in defense of females with tattoos, there are several of the Suicide Girls that are quite attractive and are practically covered in tats.

Back on topic, I think in years past when you were a good looking celebrity it was because you were damn good looking, period. You didnt have face lifts and breast implants and lip injections, and all that other shit that makes all famous women now look like clones of each other. Also, those women weren't afraid of looking like they ate more than once a week. Whats with all these anorexic skinny bitches? Is that hot to anyone?

I dunno... I'll still take Salma Hayek over any old movie star.

Eva Longoria, Scarlett Johansen, Jessica Alba, and Ziyi Zhang, too.

That is so freakin' true. I have thought of this so many times when watching black and white movies...

That certainly isn't to say there aren't beautiful woman about these days, just that there seemed to a be a much greater degree of consistency and quality with the beauty of women of the silver screen in ages past.  Scarlett Johansson has a very classic look about her, and I've always been fond of Julianne Moore.

gee... i didn't think i'd hear that from anyone..  good to know alot still prefer what's real and natural.. not salon/surgical stuff.

If only people like you spoke up more and said that "hey, stick to natural" then there'd be less miserable people in the world trying to look like someone they're not.

for the record, i don't think any guy appreciates the "surgically altered" look. i am a rotten perv, and i have discuseed this with friends, and everyone always seems to favour the natural look. fake breasts look bad, lip injections look hilarious. the best a girl can do is make the best of what she was born with. surgery always seems to draw attention to what was wrong in the first place.

I hate actresses in their 40s on TV with the really obvious plastic surgery. It is always their nose and their eyes, and they always look like a Beta version of Michael Jackson.

Don't they know how obvious it looks?

What are "tramp stamps"  :o

Oh and I agree with 95% of what's already been said on this thread so no need to repeat it.

Those are those tattoos that girls get on their lower back right above her bum so you can see it when she wears a low cut bottom.

And yeah, I'm more fond of the actually pretty look rather than the slutty one. I'd also add that cute actually goes much further than hot and given the choice I'd take cute a thousand times over. Hot just seems so fleeting, but cute just reaches into me and the feeling lingers for ever. I can hate hot, but it's hard for me to stay mad at cute (even if I try)... I suppose I should add a qualifier since there are certain types of cute that should be purged with fire. They're hard to describe or disassociate with the good kind, but you know them when you see them.

I've always thought Audrey Hepburn was adorable.

From old Egyptian actresses my favourite is Lubna Abdel Aziz. She represents my idea of a real woman's beauty.

Unfortunately this is the only picture I could find of her:

I like all those as well, except for Jessica Alba.  Add in Mariah Carey and Stacey Kiebler.

But I can see the argument about some of the old beauties like Mae West, Audrey Hepburn, and Rita Hayworth.  I don't know if I'd describe them as "hot" necessary, but certainly beautiful.

I can see myself getting ridiculed for saying this, but I'm serious.  At my late grandmother's funeral, I saw pictures of her when she was a late teenager.  She was beautiful in a way you don't really see anymore, just like the aforementioned Hollyword stars.  The word "classy" or "classic" comes to mind to describe her.

Excellent post.  I completely agree.  I am personally turned off by fake breasts.  I think they are nasty.  I guess they are okay under a bra and shirt, but naked they are just disgusting looking.  I find it strange that women that spend the most time naked - strippers and porn stars - seem more likely than not to have surgically altered breasts.  IMO they are the last groups of women that should get implants.

I've always preferred the natural look as well. I've never dated a girl that wore excessive makeup. Way too fake for me. And Scarlett Johansen is the hottest woman alive. I'd cut off my little toe to get with her.

I dont even mean really old movies, even stuff from the 70s and 80s before plastic surgery took over. This whole thing occurred to me as I watched Mel Brooks' History of the World (1981).

There are still some great looking women in Hollywood. The things I would do to Scarlett Johansen.....

My sentiments exactly. Cute is better than hot on pretty much every level. Ty be truly beautiful you need to excel at both.
