Alien Shooter: Vengeance (aka Alien Shooter II), a violent 2D Action Shooter, is shipping to stores.

Seems like the Action RPG genre is getting VERY huge, all of a sudden these last few years....

Oh God, that looks freaking awesome!  I hadn't paid much attention since the first game, which was an indy game.  I actually bought it, loved the hell out of it.  I haven't looked at anything from them for ages now, but I'll be damned in the graphics haven't improved.  And the original was *fun*, let me tell you, so I'm seriously going to have to take a look at this.  I still wish they'd change the stupid name, though (sure, it describes the product, but come on now).

Really?!?!?!

Does it play like click-and-point style, but instead w/ guns and futuristic weapons?

Or do you move your character around WSAD style???

Has the original game even been reviewed??? I looked on Gamerankings, couldn't find anything.

Was the main quest long?
Was there a decent amount of side quests????

I noticed the screenshots in the sequel looked nice and bloody, hehe! :)

Dude, just download the demo or something. I think I remember playing the original indie demo. WASD style moving, mouse to aim...but I dont remember any RPG junk in it, just a lot of splattering of aliens.

Yeah, jeezus.  Just play it, man.  And really, this isn't an action RPG unless they really retooled things from the original.  I didn't even notice that you'd put that in the thread title or I'd have said something.  You could upgrade your character in the original, but the name of the game is what it is: a shooter where you pile up giant heaps of aliens.  The first was entirely linear.  But trust me, it doesn't matter.  It's trigger-finger fodder.  It's great stuff.  Try the demo and see if you like this one, or try out the first.

You move with WASD and then use the mouse to aim and fire.  It's pretty slick.

So the trailer is fucking awesome.  Watch it.  I want this now!

EDIT - Tried the demo out, it's sweet.  Basically the exact same thing as the first, just better graphics and more weapons.  The character graphics are pretty bad, but everything else looks quite nice.  Animates good.  Nice explosions, lots of gore.  I highly recommend it.  The demo time is ultra short but you can try it a bunch of times and discover different things and have fun.  Survival mode gives you 6 minutes, campaign gives you 8.  Try it out!

Unfortunately it seems you can't buy this anywhere yet.  I've looked everywhere and there's absolutely nothing anywhere.

I thought I tried the first out, but it must have been something similiar. I can't actually remember the name now... oh well. Point is it didn't look nearly as good as this. I've been painting alien bugs for the past four hours and I need to sleep, but I'll be damned if that didn't put me in the mood for this.

I think I know what your talking about Sy, but I cant place it either because I made the same assumption. It was a diablo-esque game set in the future, a really straight forward and simple game at that with some detailed and nicely animated graphics... damn I wish I could remember it because it stuck out to me.

Well, try these out anyway.  The first game is totally addictive, though I never tried the expansions.  Trying them now since I can't find the damned sequel anywhere.  The demo for the sequel is great, though.  Short, but give it a whirl.  You can definitely play it multiple times so don't be afraid of the stupid time limit.  And if you haven't, try out the first.  It's still totally worth buying.  Basically the exact same thing as the sequel just with slightly more primitive graphics.

You can't not love that.  I prefer the red blood, which you can set via the launcher options.

EDIT - I should also mention that the game has some ingeniously hidden secrets and stuff. Going through the levels is a lot of fun since you can upgrade yourself with cash and such between levels.

EDIT x2 - Have a video!  It's really shitty, but you get the idea.  My transcoding skills are not what they once were, heh.

Played through it a little bit. The gameplay of AS: Vengeance basically feels like Shadowgrounds went 2D with some old school graphics.

I just hopped on Steam and looked at my "Uninstalled Games" list -- since I just bought Penumbra Collection and all. I noticed that Alien Shooter 2: Reloaded  -- which is newest version of Alien Shooter: Vengeance (Alien Shooter 2) -- has been added to My Games List. And I didn't even order this new edition!

Basically,  what Steam and Sigma is doing away w/ ASV and I checked the forums. All who bought ASV through Steam, they can keep that version as well and Sigma's giving you for FREE the AS 2: Reloaded Edition (with smaller game files to take up way less space, new levels, new content, and new game-modes).

Hey Valve -- with your L4D1 and L4D2 situation, you might wanna look at what Sigma's doing. :P
