The original TLJ gets patched for namely Windows Vista for those ONLY that own either the 2-CD or DVD version of the game.

(No new patch for those who own the 4-CD Edition, like myself....)

Enno Rehling of Funcom was recently asked if there was a new patch for the 4-CD Edition, since they released patches for the re-released 2CD and DVD Editions of the game. Here's his response.

Umm, no. No, that one hasn't been sold or supported by us for at least four years.

I asked why....we'll see if they answer it.....

I wouldn't worry about it anyway.  The patches that supposedly made the game work for XP didn't keep it from crashing, so I wouldn't expect much out of the Vista patch either.

Enno's response on why they abandoned support on the 4CD-Edition of TLJ.

By support, I mean support with patches, or support on new Operating systems. It's actually quite different. The data files aren't the same (different sound formats) and the code isn't the same either. There's no way to upgrade it, and the point of making the new releases was to be able to have a game that runs on XP and can still be sold. The 4CD release still runs fine on anything before Windows XP, though.

About to go on a rant here:

What the fuck is up with Dreamfall?  The fucking game ends at the half way point and the "episodic" content hasn't even gotten off the ground yet.

I liked Dreamfall quite a bit -- not even close to as much as the original, since the original TLJ had better puzzles; less repetitive puzzle types; no real (half-baked) action elements; no real (half-baked) stealth elements. TLJ is a much better game, in so many ways. But yes, you're absolutely right -- a lot of threads were left dangling, when the Dreamfall game ended.

I'm guessing this -- Funcom needed money and whatnot, so they jumped on the MMO bandwagon. Maybe they'll use that money just to make a TLJ3? I'd rather them do a TLJ3 than "episodic" content.
