I couldn't wait for this game, but now I can.  I just don't have any freaking time to play it!  So much else to finish... but I want it...

For shooters:
Bioshock, STALKER, Crysis all in the same year....

The more I see of BioShock the more worried I get about it possibly being bulky and made-for-consoles. Kinda like how Deus Ex IW turned out, where it was obviously optimized for the Xbox rather than PC.

Your concerns have been voiced by many fans and they keep saying they've learned from the mistakes of the past and it won't happen. But I am worried, especially after the direct ports of Vegas and Double Agent.

After Supreme Commander I'm pretty sure I won't be able to enjoy the game as it should be.

Guess that means I'm out. Sucks, but them's the breaks right now.

If Bioshock PC doesn't turn out so hot, you know what I'll do....

When it's bargain bin material ($20 rack and below), I'll buy it! :)

That's what I am doing w/ Gothic 3, right now -- waiting until that buggy game hits $20. I'm not paying full price for Beta-in-a-box.

HAha seriously that should be standard procedure for game purchases! Right now the only purchases I make are from developers I support or a game series I love. Other than that I usually check out games at my cousin's place.

Oooh my cousin just gave me the Dawn of War Anthology as a present ;D So I'm pretty happy! I had Dawn of War, but not the expansions and now I've finally got Winter Assault and Dark Crusade!

Same here -- especially if I expect their games to be not-so-buggy upon release.

Yep! ;D one box, three DVD's. It looks like a triple-movie pack in a nice compact box set.

Here is the same set at Amazon.co.uk.

EDIT:
That's one thing I love about games here (as oppose to Canada) we import from Europe, so all our games and other software are in DVD cases just like movies (except with the manual strapped on the inside of the case) ;D

Looks like we will have to fire up some games of Dark Crusade sometime soon. :)

Are they gonna release this in the US?

What do you mean, that you won't have the money for Bioshock?  Sorry, I just don't know what you're referring to.  I even check the Supreme Commander thread to see if you said anything in there but didn't see anything notable.

Oh. It's just getting to upgrade time for the old PC if I want to play newer games above low quality.

Bioshock pushed back a few months; from JUNE 2007 to now Late AUGUST 2007

Quote
NEWS

No BioShock Until August, Kids
June release date was nothing but a dream, it seems.
By Patrick Klepek, 03/01/2007

BioShock was supposed to arrive sometime in early 2007, but, of course, that never happened. Then, June became the light at the end of the tunnel. Prepare for a dash of disappointment, as that's not true, either; this morning 2K Games and Irrational Games jointly announced the finalized release date for the underwater thriller: August 21st.

No reason's been cited for the delay, but given the positive reception the game's received so far, polishing to the nth degree seems suspect.

Fine with me.  I'm way too busy, and with Shivering Isles coming out and me working on some ES projects, I don't need extra gaming really.  I'm good.

Damn, oh well, still got a lot of good games to look forward to this year, including Mass Effect and Assassin's Creed.

All I say is w/ this extra time, it better be to polish that game's final product up.

I get tired of new PC games coming out, in which the game is bringing uber-powerful rigs to their knees.

Oh -- I don't wanna' see a "streamline job" like the one done in Deus Ex: IW in the final product of Bioshock. This extra time better ensure of that, too.

Two problems:

1.)Videos and screenshots sell games
2.) reviewers, in their infinite wisdom, don't take performance into account nearly enough.  They only really dock points or even mention it if it's obviously a major problem.  Rarely will you read a review criticizing a game for not running as well as it should on a mid-range system.  That should be a major aspect of reviews.  If your game runs worse than it should on average hardware, you should be penalized for it.
