I propose a game

After looking at a wikipedia page for The Clapper (after seeing the commercial again) I thought up a game we could play.  First, check out the page:

Notice the last paragraph.  Now look at the history.  That edit was made today.  So, here's the game I propose.  We all pick one topic and edit it with some bullshit like that.  Not necessarily false, but having as little to do with fact as possible and see who's edit goes the longest.

Just for the record, though, you aren't the first person to think of this. Stephen Colbert (The Colbert Report) told his viewers on air to change the elephant entry to include the fact that the elephant population has tripled in the past year. It worked, but eventually Colbert was banned from wikipedia and the entry was taken down.

Anyways, we have to pick a topic to change. Ideas?

Haha, thats an awesome idea.

Ghandi, I think the idea is for each person edit a different topic, and see whos edit stays the longest.

Oh yeah, I actually saw that as well.  Awesome.

But yeah, the idea is we each take a different topic.  The key is also how you edit it.  We can't just edit in some false information like "Honda sells 300,000 Civics each year", but rather some blatantly stupid information like "The head automobile designer for Honda got the idea for the Civic when he saw a Lion eating a young warthog during an African safari.  He was an alcoholic, and most of the board of directors wanted to fire him, but they took a chance and it payed off.  Years later he was fired when he suggested the Civic 2 being shaped like a lion eating a giraffe."

Hahahaha!  In Que's defense, I wasn't sure about gpw's contribution until I saw the word "flubber".  It's easy to get lost in the pile of words about a subject one cares very little about.  Ghandi's on the other hand, was very easy to pick out from the beginning.   ;D

College history department bans wikipedia as a source

Apparently, 17 students stated something on a test that was wrong that they got off wikipedia. The article doesn't surprise me, it's just the fact that they mention that wikipedia sometimes contains "deliberate falsehoods". Now who would go about deliberately putting false info on wikipedia...

Fuck, if anyone honestly takes whatever any of us makes up on there and goes so far as to include it in a paper or exam they deserve the 'F' more than someone who just didn't bother to do the work.  I'm just helping to thin the flock so that our degrees actually mean something.
