I just finished Dungeon Siege 2.

What did you think? How was the final battle?

Dungeon Siege 2 is the kind of game where it just gets better and better as it moves along -- it's about 40 hours long; and yes, it feels too long b/c the game doesn't really get off the ground until sometime later on. It's kind of unfortunate that it kind of has this "ho-hum" slow start -- which is probably the reason I played it for a few weeks, quit for a few months, then played it some more, quit for a bit, played it some more for a short time, quit, repeat cycle until I finally and really got into it the last month and just couldn't put it down. Act 2 and on is once it really gets itself going, storyline wise and strategy-wise since you'll have more spells and attacks and whatnot at your disposal -- and since the story really begins to accumulate to something.

There is a decent amount of side quests, too -- especially when compared to the originally. That's worth noting. and some NPC's have a side quest of their own -- that will reveal mroe about this character's background and whatnot.

The battles just get more epic, strategic, and war-like, as it moves along. That stuff's quite addictive, actually.

The boss battles in DS2 were awesome -- most of them are long and quite tough, to say the least. The battle w/ the oversized tree, the 2nd 1/2 of the battle w/ the dragon Talon, the battle w/ the one high-level mage, the epic battle w/ the three grand wizards, and the last long battle w/ Valdis were awesome.

Unfortunately, while some of the voice-acting is good, some of it is awful. Also, there is the nasty bug w/ the dragon battle Talon where he disappears in the first half of the battle w/ him if you save in the process of fighting him and come back to fight him (and you need a 3rd party patch to get it to work, which skips that part of the battle!) and the quests are quite linear (not multiple paths to doing quests).

And, the ending does leave itself wide open for the expansion.....

I started the expansion, Broken World, last night. More options in dialogue, even if they usually result in the same end resulting pathway. This expansion is much darker than DS2 dared, just right off the tip of the bat -- since pretty much the world hates you (for the most part) and doesn't want you playing "hero" again b/c of what occured from DS2: Original Campaign. Personally, I already like the way this is going, myself....Let's hope it keeps it up....

I finished Destroy All Humans! 2 (PS2), to 100% completion, twice.  I love those games.  Turn the tables on the cheesy sci-fi of my youth.

I think the original is now one of the $20 "greatest hits".  I like the 2nd better, but not by much.  The 1st one is truly original.  The sequel only carries the concepts a bit further.

I finished Quake 4 (Single Player Campaign) a bit ago today. Freakin' rocked.

I been playing the Quake 4: MP, which happens to feels a lot like Quake 3: Arena, which is not a bad thing.

I finished Gears of War and am about halfway through my second run, now playing on hardcore.  Which is pretty hardcore.  The game is definitely one of those "make a mistake and die" kind of games, but it's a lot more forgiving on casual.  It'll let you accidentally run out of cover or press your advantage too hard and then let you make up for it a lot of times.  I suspect that Insane will play almost exactly like hardcore (from the stats I've seen) except that mistakes will equal death pretty much always.  On hardcore 80% of your mistakes will get you killed near instantly, but there's still a little room for lucky maneuvers that shouldn't work but end up getting you out of trouble anyway.

Since I bought CoD2 recently, I got crackin' on the original CoD -- I was on the British campaign, last few days for a few hours here and there.

Well, moments ago, I just finished the original Call of Duty (PC).

Anybody finish anything lately???

I finished Gears of War (casual) and Lost Planet: Extreme Condition a couple weeks ago.  I totally forgot about Destroy All Humans.  I'll need to check one of them out.

I just recently played through God of War again, before that it was Okami.  I am planning on picking up Rogue Galaxy soon and God of War II which will be here soon.  Right now I've been playing some Guitar Hero 2 off and on.

I loved KOTOR.  I didn't like KOTOR2 though.

Anyway, I didn't finish anything, but I did break 1 million in Geometry Wars.  :P

I don't know if I posted it here before but I finished Xenosaga Ep. 1 a few months ago.  I just finished PoP:tTT a week or so ago as well.  I found the game to be about 10x more enjoyable once I downloaded a trainer for it so I couldn't die except from traps or falling.  The Dark Prince segments were fun, but a total pain since I didn't really like the combat and hated the fact that your energy would constantly deplete.

Nearly through with R6: Vegas on the 360.  That counts, right?  Finishing a game for me is quite a feat these days.

I havent finished anything. Instead I have started playing a bunch of awesome games only to never finish them up. Here's a list:

Okami
FFVII
God of War
Castlevania: PoR

I am a disgrace to all gamers.

Finished Crackdown on "tough".  Been going after achivements.  Got Road Warrior (finish 14 different races in under a given time each) and Master Agent (4 stars across the board plus max out the skill meters) tonight.  I have about 18 of those green orbs left to find, and almost half of the hidden ones.

There are 2 higher difficulty settings, so I'm thinking of moving up to the next one and having at it again.  This game has the same idiotic saving limitations as Dead Rising--a single save, and you can't restart from scratch without deleting what you've done.  Using the memory card should work, I hope.  It always asks me what device I want to use when I first boot up the game.

I finished Gears of War on "casual" not too long ago.  Started to go through again on "hardcore", but I sort of drifted away from it.  It's tough, but I think I can do it.  Don't know if I will, though.

I'm not a good example to go by.  I've been playing it close to my whole waking life since I got it (and I've been having insomnia to boot).  Easily put in 25 hours before I beat it, maybe 30.

Well, I wasn't the biggest fan honestly.  It wasn't bad, but it wasn't that great.  I'm probably 1/2 through Ep 2 at this point (although I probably haven't touched it in 3 weeks) and I like it a lot more.  There's just something about all the characters not looking like 12 year old powerpuff girls that appeals to me and it seems like the story is now actually going somewhere (not to mention you actually use your gears now...I think I only used them once or twice in the first one).

All in all I'd have to say I like the series, but unlike most people from what I've read I'm a far bigger fan of the second one than the first.

I actually feel the same way, the only major complaint I had about the second game was the much shorter length.  I liked the games more as they progressed, especially the third one, if you are already liking the second one's story and style you're going to love the third one.  If you like the gear battles in the second one, the third game has a few awesome boss battles with them.

Finished the main quest of PC version of The Godfather (becoming Underboss and finishing "Baptism" Quest -- letting the game end where the original movie does).

I destroyed all compounds, making me The Don and taking over Corleone family.

Now, messing around here and there to try and get all 100% game completion, to become The Don Of NYC.
