Arrr, Pirates of the Caribbean: At Worlds End!
« on: Friday, May 25, 2007, 11:42:09 PM »
Not sure it's my favorite out of the three, I'm still thinking about it. It was great. Meg, and I went to see it tonight, and we both really enjoyed it. It was super entertaining. Lots of cool moments.

I really like the Davey Jones character, he's just cool to me for some reason, and he's animated so superbly.

Anyway, anyone else see it?

I thought the first was horrible, the second was even worse. I can't even imagine how bad the third is.

I am sorry I don't mean to ruin the mood of the thread or anything. I know a lot of people here like them, but I can't understand the appeal at all. I found them to be some of the worst movies I've seen. I mean they aren't funny, nor are they exciting nor is the storyline particularly good.

I like them because their entertaining. If you don't find them entertaining then that's the end of it, there's no deep philosophical story to it if its not entertainment then its just dribble.

But like I said I liked the first 2 might see the 3rd this week after work. Though I had wished they didn’t do the cliffhanger ending at the end of the 2nd movie, I was more looking for 2 separate stories rather then 1 filled out over 2 movies.

Pug brings up good points.  What is it about these movies that people like?  I mean, I really like the two I've seen and can't wait until I see At World's End, but I couldn't tell you why for the life of me.

It has something to do with the Jack Sparrow character, I think.

I'm pretty sure it is everyone's fascination with pirates.

Anyway, I really enjoyed the first.  I was severely let down by the second.  I may go and see the third, but I get the impression that I won't like it.
Suck it, Pugnate.

Just got back from seeing the 3rd. I enjoyed it quite a bit. There are some moments in there that are just kind of dopey
(click to show/hide)
But overall I thought it was fun.

Heh yea, I agree with that Idol. There was some things that didnt work right and some things that felt too convoluted, but in the end it was still really entertaining and lots of fun.

I think reviewers complaining about the complicated plot is because the first two movies weren't hard to follow at all. This one is more complicated, but not really that difficult. Just unexpected.

Also, its almost 3 hours long and the time just flew by for me. Seriously,  never checked my watch or thought "Man, this is dragging on"....unlike, say, King Kong.
