I got jumped by a bunny last night
« on: Monday, June 18, 2007, 07:20:11 PM »
There is a pool in my neighborhood that is literally right across the street from me.  It takes about 10 seconds to get there, so I like to go swimming at random times.  Last night, I went over at about 9:30pm to swim some laps before I went to bed.  Usually, the lights in the pool come on when you enter it (some motion sensor or something), but for whatever reason, this time, no lights came on.  So it was nearly pitch black in the water.  There are 2 little lights that cover the pool deck area.. but that's it.

Anyway, I am swimming for about 15 minutes. It's cold as hell, but other than that, business as usual.  I push off the edge of the wall at one end and feel something on my back. Claws.

I am not exaggerating when I say this: I freaked the fuck out.  I swim forward and turn around to see something very dark in the water behind me.  Holy shit.  I jump out of the pool in about .. half of a second flat.  I walk closer to the thing and see it is a little bunny rabbit.  We have them all over the neighborhood. I am in a state of disbelief at this point.

Adrenaline rushing, I just watch the bunny to see what the hell he is going to do.  He swims for a bit, keeping his head up and treading water.  However, he quickly starts having trouble.  His head will go under for a second, then come back up.  Then, he just goes down.  He was about a foot under the the water when I realized he wasn't coming back up.

I'm thinking.. "I can't just sit here and watch the bunny drown".  So I jump back in the water, grab the thing, and plop him on the pool deck.

He just lays there for seriously 3 minutes on his side.  He's breathing, but no other sign of life.  Then, he gets up in his little bunny position, and sits there for 10 minutes.  All the while, I am just sitting in disbelief at what just happened.  Then, he limps off.  I am thinking I hurt his leg when I was putting him on the pool deck.

It's dark again and I can't decide if I want to go swimming tonight.
Suck it, Pugnate.

Hahahahaha.  Dude I can imagine how that would be scary.  I wonder how it got in the water.

That's a wicked story.  I used to have two giant bunnies.  Pretty good pets actually, and they're fucking tough animals.  My friend/neighbour claimed his cat was the toughest cat in the world.  To this day it's still a point of contention between us because we both witnessed his cat get absolutely gooned by two fluffy bunnies when it suprised attacked them in their hutch/cage/fenced in area.

A little more on topic, I was driving back from this girl's apartment at like 3 am this morning and I was hauling ass because I had to get up at 6:30 to get to work.  A skunk ran out in front of me and I couldn't stop in time (I wasn't going to swerve to avoid it and drive off the road for a skunk).  Th best I could do was aim directly for it so that it would hopefully go under the car rather than get crushed by the wheel.  It half worked.  I could hear it hitting the underside of the car, but saw it moving across the road in my mirror. It mas walking, but it was hard to tell if it was limping or just doing that whacked ass skunk-bounce they do.

As much as I hate the things, I hope it wasn't too hurt.  That's saying a lot considering how much my car fucking stinks right now.

I was leaving my mom's neighborhood Sunday evening, as I was driving down the road this tiny fluffy baby bunny comes slowly hopping out in the road.  I slammed on my brakes and must have stopped just before hitting it.  For a few seconds it was completely out of view then I saw it hop off the side of the road into some bushes.

Nothing would have ruined my day like squishing a baby bunny.

At least it was a bunny instead of a raccoon... or a skunk.

A cat committed suicide on my car's bumper once.  He jumped out in front of me.  I swerved.  Cat jumped in front of me again.  I swerved again.  Cat matched my move.  On the brakes the whole time.  Bam!  Been many years, but I still wonder if the cat was trying to catch my car.

An octopus stuck to my brother's back once.  On the beach of a small island off the East coast of Puerto Rico (isla de ramos).  He was not at all happy.

The Octopus or your brother?

I'm sure the octopus was traumatized when my brother jumped out of the water howling like a coyote.  But I was thinking about the human in that encounter.

I almost took out a squirrel this morning.  It just kept coming towards my wheels.  Finally at the last second it did that thing where it's tail goes straight up and it took off away from me.

I had the same thing happen to me a few years back. This cat sat on the side of the road waiting for my car. I saw him jump out and slammed on the brakes, and the cat stopped. I started moving again and he dived under my wheels. Dumb cat. Plus I had 4 girls in the car screaming their heads off because I just hit a cat. I was trying to reassure them that the cat obviously wanted to die.
