Warhammer 40,000: Squad Command for PSP and DS

Awesome.

Warhammer 40k turn-based strategy on the DS and PSP. 3D, destructible environments, multiplayer...awesome. Comes out this fall.

Sounds cool. I'm guessing the PSP version will be the better version though. When you develop for both systems you can't really push what makes the DS special and the game becomes more traditional. That means graphics and screen size will become the deciding factor.

*joys*. the idea of a 40k inspired, turn based game on a portable system sounds pretty great to me. i just hope that there's better voice acting than dawn of war.

I hope they show DS screens soon. I want to see what the difference will be.

What was wrong with the voice acting in DoW? The cutscenes were pretty so-so, but I thought the in-game acknowledgements were good. I still turn it on to hear the Space Marine's threaten to kill everything once in a while (although I was sad to realize that "Cleanse, Purge, Kill!" was removed from the game after one of the exansions).

well everything eldar sounded female, which is off in my opinion. everything chaos was irritating as fuck. the marines aren't too bad, but the commander unit pissed me off. a lot of the sound bytes were far too long and would continue on long after you selected, moved and actioned the unit. it wasn't all bad, some of the sound bytes are pretty cool, but on the whole i thought it was a bit over the top and hammy - you know, very "video-gamey" (in a bad way).

as for the cutscenes, the voices were so over the top. every single bloody word was said with emphasis, and the pauses between some words and sentences were just odd. i think the cutscenes alerted me to how bad the voice acting was, and made me biased against all the other voices in the game. but seriously, the voice acting in the cut scenes is some of the worst i've ever heard.

I didn't find it *that* bad.  I mean, not good by any means, but I've heard far worse.  But yes, Chaos was annoying as fuck.

Also, did anyone notice that THQ has a developer working on a 40k MMO?  Weren't we all just talking about how that totally wouldn't work on any level?
