Album A Day
« on: Sunday, July 15, 2007, 06:35:27 PM »
The brainchild of Tom 7 of Crap Art, Album A Day is a project in which you, well, write an album in a day. One single 24-hour period, no allowances for sleeping or eating (as in, of course you can if you need to. Just don't say "Oh that doesn't count as part of the 24 hours"). You must create an album at least 20 minutes or 30 tracks long. If those two numbers sound incongruous to you, the rules state that you're not allowed to throw anything away. If you start a song, it goes on the album, even if all you have is 30 seconds of it.

I am currently 2 hours 35 into my first AAD, and I have two songs so far. I'll post the result as soon as it's finished.

I would totally do that if I didn't already have 9 billion unfinished projects.  I can't add to that heap.  =(

that definitely is hardcore. good luck!

i've always found a large found part of the creative process is chisseling away at the crap, and often includes discarding stuff entirely. i guess this way you at least get to work deeper in ideas that you might initially cast off as sub par. it's certainly an interesting approach.

Current status:

Tracks: 4
Playing Time: 14m03s

Instrumentals: 2

Time remaining: 18h50m

I still need to write the words for the wordy ones. I think I'm doing pretty well, though. Two more tracks and that's it, really, unless I keep hacking away, which I might.

Update #2:

Tracks: 6
Playing time: 23:25
FINISHED - A theme developed while I was writing, so I told the story and ended it there.

Instrumentals: 2

Left to do:
Record vocals.

That's it! And I shall do that later on - after all, I have 15 hours left, yet. xD

Complete! I was wrong on the running time - it's actually 24:07. Still. It is called Triad and you can get it here.

dude, I didn't even realize you'd finished it.  Whoops!  I'll comment later, hopefully.

Thanks! Some of the vocals are sketchy, and my production still needs work in general on vocal pieces, but I'm pretty happy with the results, particularly track 3.
