Yea it wasn't a good movie by any means. The special effects were pretty poor. I found it entertaining because I was expecting it to be some ultra realistic Rainbow Six style movie. The reason is that that is how the leaked script made the movie sound.

What I missed was that apparently there was an uproar after the first script came out, and it went through a rewrite to make it more like a movie that would appeal to the fans of the show, by some comic book writer.

I liked the toys, but I thought the show was pretty stupid as a kid heh.

Anyway, the first script which I went through, was very different. For example, even though the movie was called "G.I.Joe", the secret team wasn't called that, and there was no mention of that name in the entire story. There was also no mention of "Cobra" in the movie either.

I have a feeling someone wanted to fulfill their own fantasy of some ultra realistic Rainbow Six style movie, and decided to use G.I.Joe as the means. Good thing there was an uproar, because while such a movie would have probably been better, it wouldn't have been G.I.Joe.

I watched Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs, and The Fantastic Mr.Fox. Both were very good. The latter came from Wes Anderson, and was his first movie which I really liked. It was quite clever, with some good laughs.

Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs is one gag after another, and while it was initially a bit of a miss, it wasn't long before it won me over. It was actually very very funny, and I recommend you watch it. Lots of laugh-out-loud moments in there.

Solitary Man - Really good movie. Michael Douglas steals the show, pretty much.

I liked that really well.  I could identify with the character in some respects, and Douglas played the role convincingly.

Prince of Persia - I enjoyed it, probably more than other people. Big epic adventure movies are sort of my thing. I liked how they kept a lot of the themes of the SoT game but didn't outright try to shoehorn it into a movie.

I want to say the game did a lot better at the prince/princess relationship development, but I suppose its easier to do that in a 10 hour game than a 2 hour movie. It just felt like they went from practically hating each other to liking each other with little in between. I also thought the ending was a little weak. I enjoyed at the end of the SoT game where (do I even have to spoiler this? Stop reading if you really haven't played) the prince says the "magic word" to the princess as a tell that he knows about the time traveling thing (and that his story was true). The end of the movie was just didn't have as good of a feeling to it, like hes not even going to hint at what he now knows.

Watched A Scanner Darkly again, which I really liked for the 2nd time (finally found it on Blu-ray).  This was on my trip to TX to visit my sort-of girlfriend.  We also watched Book of Eli which I actually enjoyed a whole lot more than I expected to.  I thought it was a really good little flick on the whole.  Have a bunch of other movies I've been meaning to check out but haven't yet.  Picked up 9 and Lord of War on DVD because they were practically free... we'll see when I get around to them.

Haha it's true, some things are meant to just stay in the past.

I watched RED recently, it was very entertaining. A little slow at the start but once John Malkovich shows up it gets fun!

How to Train Your Dragon.  It was awesome.  Totally predictable characters and storyline, but it's very well done and was a lot of fun.  Highly recommended.

I watched Four Lions, a black comedy about four British Muslims looking to be suicide bombers. Reviewed at 88% on RT, I didn't find it to be as good as I had expected. It was still quite funny at times.

I tried watching that, but couldn't.  I don't find the subject matter funny regardless of how it's used.  But I did try.  Train Your Dragon was fun, but I hoped for better.  Red was outrageous.  I'm glad to see those veteran actors have such a good time together.  Not that the result is Oscar material.

I've had Four Lions sitting in my video library for weeks. Every time I sit down to watch it I get distracted and set it aside.

RED was ridiculous! hehe The whole cast was great but John Malkovich is who made it for me.

The Social Network is outstanding.  Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps is uneven, but noteworthy.  It has a very interesting style that helps to weave its tale succinctly.  Plus Michael Douglas is back as Gekko.

Planet 51Shark Tale was better.  For those that haven't seen the latter, basically I'm saying it is terrible.  Even your kids, younger siblings, and/or nieces and nephews will be bored to death.

I got about halfway through that, and no further.  Ick!  Just because it's CGI doesn't mean it has any redeeming qualities.

Monsters vs Aliens, though, is a completely different bowl of rendered wax.

I watched Clint Eastwood's A Perfect World. Older movie, I've seen bits of it when I was younger and I remembered a couple weeks back so I netflixed it. Glad I did, it was really good, ending was a little bit on the sappy side but still great movie overall.

I saw The Expendables a couple months ago. It was ok, I didnt like it as much as I thought I would.

Recently started netflix up so tonight I watched Inception and Up. I enjoyed both, Inception being all trippy and awesome and Up being...well, Pixar.

I watched Greenberg last week. Well, not really... I could only watch 20 or so minutes. Usually I'm pretty good at torturing myself by finishing crappy movies but this movie was just so damn boring I couldn't do it.

Anyway, I watched Ondine on Sunday and liked it. The ending was a bit dumb, but the whole movie had a very dream like quality to it. Very relaxing.

I watched Fight Club again for the third or fourth time.  I love that movie.  It's hard to believe I still haven't read the book.

Other than that, I binged on Hitchcock.  Murder, Secret Agent, The 39 Steps, Jamaica Inn, Number 17, The Man Who Knew Too Much, Sabotage, The Lady Vanishes, Vertigo, Rear Window, Blackmail, and God only knows what else.  I forget.

I went home over the holidays and went on a movie watching spree to catch up on missed flicks.

I saw:

The Expendables
Inception (again)
Robin Hood
Wall Street 2 - Money Never Sleeps
Frozen
Buried
The Town
Winter's Bone
Stool Pigeon (Hong Kong film)
Reign of Assassins (John Woo co-directed this film)
The Social Network
Family Guy - It's a Trap!

To be honest I think I saw a couple more, but their titles elude me right now.  For the most part, I really liked everything I saw.  I was disappointed with The Expendables.  It turned out to be a lot more boring not as intensive as I thought it would be.  The third Star Wars special of Family Guy is growing tired and the recycled jokes are taking their toll.  I didn't enjoy it as much as the first two.

Winter's Bone turned out to be quite well acted, if a little slow.  Buried was surprisingly well done.  Reynolds puts in a strong performance.

Frozen was pretty mediocre, but was decent for that genre.

Wall Street was disappointing overall, but it wasn't bad.

I actually really enjoyed Robin Hood.  They really shouldn't have named it that though.

The two Asian films I saw were also really good.  Stool Pigeon is cop/gang movie about the life of an informant.  It was really well done, but a couple of side plots slows it down a bit.  Reign of Assassins was also really good.

I watched Predators last night. I was expecting shit. It didn't end up being that bad. I liked the concept and it had a few good moments. The cast was forgettable, though Adrian Brody did a good job and was a pretty decent action hero. The movie still failed to capture the atmosphere and tension that made the original Predator so good. But at least it was better than the recent AvP movies.
