Orin Keepnews is an interesting dude, though I suspect I'm the only guy who'll find this interesting. He's something of a legendary jazz producer, and he's been in the business for a long, long time. He's now 84. This interview was occasioned because he's got something of a collection of records entitled "The Keepnews Collection" coming out, and these are basically just his picks of some different and lesser-known (apparently) jazz greats under the control of a particular record company that recently acquired (I gather) a pretty big laundry list of music.
Anyway, I find it utterly fascinating, though I guess nobody else will. I discovered this new collection when I was in my local record shop the other day and I got
this. They just don't make music like that anymore. Everybody should own this album.
