Owen Wilson sliced his wrists and attempted to commit suicide a new report from the National Enquirer and Star Magazine claims.  In what sounds like a tragic and horrible situation the report on the website details that Wilson was hospitalized after attempting suicide citing sources.

The Enquirer reports that Wilson was transported to St. John’s hospital in Santa Monica , Calif. on Sunday, August 26, by ambulance. Sources tell the entertainment magazine that that he "sliced his wrists and also took an indeterminate amount of pills."

One thing I hate about society is that the majority of people praise everything every celebrity ever does. On top of that, when someone criticizes a celebrity that same majority goes ape shit. So I'm going to say my piece and then you guys and go ahead and say the usual stuff like: "You're a monster", You're a horrible human being", "Be nice" and my personal favorite "You're just jealous".

You know what, I am jealous. Owen Wilson has an unlimited supply of resources (not so much talent, but everything else) but this loser still wants to kill himself...or maybe not because he obviously screwed that up. What does he have in his life to be so anti-life about? The paparazzi? You, Me and Dupree? I wish those were the most important things to worry about in my life, maybe then I could truly rest. However, I think this bungled "Kill Owen" fiasco was a half-assed attempt for attention. In all honesty, how hard is it to kill yourself? In fact, how can you dice your wrists open, take an "undetermined" amount of pills and still not die? Its called a lack of ambition folks, if he really wanted to kill himself he would've used a bottle of whiskey and a revolver like every other man thats wanted to end it all. Besides, they even teach fourth graders how to cut their wrists in health class. Its down the highway, not across the street.

Why even speculate?  None of us know what's going on in his life and it's doubtful any of us even care.  But come on, plenty of people who try to kill themselves are beyond fucked up.  Drugs, booze, whatever... half of these people are barely even conscious.  I imagine it's pretty easy to screw it up in that condition, and with celebrities it's almost always drugs or something.  It doesn't affect my life at all, and I generally hate celebrities, but I don't get the angst.  Who fucking cares?

Not trusting those rags at all, I looked for better authority.  This is the best I found, and they too are using the pulp trash as sources.  The hospital trip is apparently confirmed, though, so it's very possible this all really happened.

I'm with Que here.  Who knows what the hell was going through his head.  When that kind of darkness descends on you, your humanity bows out and something else takes over.  We're rational beings only when our animal needs are met.  Those always take precedence, deeper in our multilayer brains.

Just because you're a celebrity and make movies doesn't vaccinate you from mental illness.  In fact, most of the suicide attempts I see aren't "serious" as you would classify them.  But the attempt in itself is a cry out for help, lethal or no.  Something obviously had to drive him to exhibiting this sort of behavior.  No one does this for the hell of it.  There are plenty of other safer ways to get attention.

My so-called "self-righteous attitude and knowledge of suicide" comes from a BA and MA in counseling and psychology and strong background in counseling suicidal/homicidal people in a crisis setting.  What are your qualifications to speak on the subject?

Even then, some people don't die when pulling the trigger on their brains.

I don't feel pity for people who seek suicide as the way out.  I feel sad for them because suicide IS NEVER the answer... I've lost quite a few childhood acquaintances this way.. another who was a friend in highschool - yet, their pain still goes on... I don't know if you believe in ghosts, but i do.. And some of them are still ghosts - the ghosts are always sad and remorseful.

Nick, when someone wants to die, he has to overcome his self-preservation mechanism, which is extremely strong.  Wanting to die is very different from overcoming the fear of dying.  These two violent emotions fight each other off.  Some guys may be able to face the barrel of a loaded revolver and pull the trigger.  I can't.  I know that now.  But it is conceivable to me to go to sleep and never wake up.  I can't speak for Owen, but I do have some firsthand experience with this darkness.

Anyone who calls suicide cowardice has no clue at all how much fear must be fought off to get there.  If anything, someone who continues to live, though he he has given up on life, is twice a coward.

Wilson has two movies in production and two more upcoming releases to help promote.

DreamWorks Pictures said in a statement that filming continues on "Tropic Thunder," a comedy starring Wilson. The studio offered no details on whether Wilson's role in the movie, directed by Ben Stiller and starring Jack Black, would be recast.

It was also unknown if Wilson's hospitalization would affect his appearance opposite Jennifer Aniston in the 20th Century Fox comedy "Marley & Me."

A Fox spokesman told Hollywood trade paper Daily Variety that "it's a totally inappropriate question at this time" whether he would appear in the movie.

Wilson's hospitalization could also keep him from helping promote "The Darjeeling Limited," in which he stars alongside Adrien Brody and Jason Schwartzman. The Fox Searchlight film was to be released next month.

Paramount also had a Wilson film due out in March: the Judd Apatow-produced "Drillbit Taylor."

Treciokas released a brief statement Monday on Wilson's behalf: "I respectfully ask that the media allow me to receive care and heal in private during this difficult time."

I don't think trying to commit suicide is the right answer to his problems and all, whatever those problems might happen to be...Bleh @ suicide attempts by another celebrity -- first Amy Winehouse, now Owen Wilson. Free speech I don't have a problem with.  I do however have a problem with dumbass speech.  Your post is rife with inaccuracies about the nature of people who become suicidal and make attempts.  It doesn't matter if you're homeless or the richest man in the world, neither are immune to the processes that can make us feel that way.  Social status has nothing to do with the biological predeterminations that govern whether or not we will be mentally healthy. 

I can't blame you 100% for your post, simply because there are plenty of others who think just as ignorantly as you do about suicide, and mental health as a whole.  But I would advise you to read up on the topic, if you feel inclined to do so.
