Well, that's your problem. If you really want to know what's up you have to go to Perezhilton.com
See that's the thing. I don't think the other three really contributed much in the grand scheme of things. Elton John is a very talented song writer, Princess Dianna did a lot for charity and brought a lot of mainstream attention to a humanitarian cause, and Yoko Ono is a loudmouth hippy bitch that isn't good at anything. Look at it that way and they've contributed something. The guy working at 7-11 contributes something, Kevin Federline contributed something when he washed cars, and Paris Hilton contributes something in that she a.) spends a lot of money, and b.) gives a bunch of low self esteem having morons someone to make themselves feel better about whatever shitty place in their life they find themselves in. That said, in the grand shceme of things none of these people haven't contributed shit compaired to those like Tim Berners-Lee, Edward Teller, Alan Turning, James Watson, or that child molesting French Anderson.
That in itself is fine, you don't have to cure cancer to be someone worthwhile, but when people justify their hatred (hatred is key here...non-interest is completely different) for someone based on the fact that they don't contribute anything, then you have to take a look at the people you respect according to the same standards. My argument is, if that's how some people are going justify who they idiolize and who they demonize, then at least do it right and respect those that have saved millions of lifes or changed the course of history rather then those that have some pop culture relevance.
That said, this isn't really directed at anyone here, but rather at a certain attitude some people 'pretend' to have. But, if I were to point out someone in pop culture that detracted from society, I'd pick gossip columists like that Perez Hilton guy before any celebrity who fell into their fame through no extraordinary talent or feat of their own.
