TimeShift demo is now out.

It clocks it at about ONE GB, more or less -- all depending on what version you download.

Wait... wasn't this a hot item like... a year and a half ago?  I'm surprised it hasn't come out yet.  I thought it had already come and gone.

That was only previews -- but yeah, everyone was making a big deal out of this thing way before it was even ready.

I forgot it was planned to out in Q4 2007, myself...heh.

Gold - TimeShift [October 16, 2007, 7:52 pm ET] - Viewing Comments
Sierra announces that TimeShift is gold, and that Saber Interactive's "M"-rated 4D shooter will ship on October 30. A PC demo was released last week (story), and there's also demo on Xbox LIVE. Here's word:

Sierra Entertainment is pleased to announce that TimeShift for the XBOX 360® and Windows PC have gone gold, with a planned retail ship date of October 30, 2007. Developed by Saber Interactive, the highly-anticipated shooter allows players to master time to become the ultimate weapon. Armed with the experimental time-manipulating Beta Suit and a huge arsenal of weaponry, players have the ability to slow, stop and reverse the flow of time, allowing them to control several aspects of each battle sequence and puzzle situation. Intuitive time controls give the player the ultimate advantage in strategic attacks used to outsmart the enemy.

With a comprehensive online 16-player multiplayer mode, featuring time-controlling "chrono" grenades, 14 different maps and over 40 different customizable options, TimeShift is a truly unique multiplayer experience for every level of gamer, whether a novice or an expert.

I just bought this PC game and I am waiting for it to arrive.

Anyways, there is one heck of a read here on the Making Of This Game that I just read.

It goes on for a good 8 pages.

I always like to hear info on the making of games -- they're usually interesting and all.

This is pretty much a long synopsis of all the internal struggles that Saber Interactive went through w/ making this game -- from the publishing changes  to technical issues w/ getting the game running decently for so many reasons -- all which took them some 4-years plus to make.

4 years to make a last-gen shooter that does nothing new.  Good job, guys.

Seriously, though, I got the game on sale for 10 bucks and it isn't terrible.  It's just not really anything new.

How did you like the time manipulation mechanic for slowing, reversing and stopping time?

I'm guessing it was probably worth your $10, though...?

BTW, how's the story??

More of the "not anything new" there, too?

Pretty much.  But still, not terrible.  They've got a nice dystopia thing going on, sort of reminiscent of HL2.

Cool. My copy of this arrived today.

Perfect timing, since I just finished Call of Juarez last nite. I'mma go install this thing.

EDIT:
So far, it's cool. Gameplay and action's pretty good. Graphics look good on my aging PC. Runs quite well in 800x600, I might add.

I really like the Time Stop thing. Did any game do that in a shooter before? Jericho did it w/ the brainy-girl character, eh?

The Time Slow reminds me of Matrix/FEAR/Max Payne. The Time Reverse reminds me of PoP Series.

I like the atmosphere and all, but it doesn't seem to be telling too much of a story....yet....

Yeah, it's not exactly like other FPS games since it also has the time-reverse thing ala PoP, but... meh.  It still doesn't make it that different.  Though I do like stopping time, grabbing a guy's gun away from him, then unfreezing time and watching him freak out before I shoot him.  That's pretty entertaining.  The problem isn't that it's bad, like I said... it's a competent game that's fun to play.  It just needed to come out maybe 3 years ago to actually be a success of any kind.  Ironically, I think that's probably more the timeframe they were shooting for.

The first time I did that, I was cracking up. Yes, that is a pretty entertaining gimmick.

You know what I don't like too much? I seem to be spending a good deal of time cleaning up my saves, since every quicksave creates a new freakin' save slot.
