Bionic Commando RETURNS -- Coming to PC, X360, PS3.

Old school game Bionic Commando will be returning completely -- for PC, X360 and PS3.

Capcom Confirms Return of Bionic Commando
Classic series getting a makeover.

By Patrick Klepek, 10/15/2007
Rumors that Bionic Commando was returning have existed for years, most recently surfacing in an EGM rumor report. Turns out they were completely true, as GameSpot reports that Capcom has teamed with an unnamed "American producer," "Japanese creative advisor" and Swedish studio GRIN to create an all-new Bionic Commando on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC.

GRIN, whose website is currently down for maintenance, is mostly unknown because they've only recently been responsible for porting Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter and its sequel from to PC. That's not exactly an encouraging sign for such a fan-demanded game, but maybe this is their big, creative break.

The update comes with a new story, too, ditching the nameless hero from the original in favor of "technologically enhanced agent" Nathan Spencer. Our new hero has been framed for a series of murders by his superiors at a mysterious organization called the Imperials, but luck flips in his favor when a terrorist weapon goes off the day he's to be executed. Spencer's swinging enhancements give him a unique advantage in a devastated city, forcing the government to call on his help.

This news comes as no coincidence, given Capcom has a major media event taking place overseas this week. Stay tuned for more on Bionic Commando's return.

Bionic Commando for the NES was ridiculously hard. Unnecessarily hard, even. It made me cry it was so hard.

I absolutely love Bionic Commando. It's easily one of my favorite NES game that works perfectly in the era. The thing really works as just a twist on the 2D shooter where you simply cannot jump.

Of course, I love all the other stuff too and I'm very disappointed to see no sunglasses or no Nazis. If you aren't fighting a super human Hitler at the end, it's not Bionic Commando.

It's just you.  Have you played the original for NES?

This game kind of came out of nowhere and it looks pretty cool so far, hopefully it ends up actually being good.  I highly doubt there's going to be a super human Hitler at the end of the game Sy, though that would be pretty fucking cool.

Yeah, the old game was cool back in the day.

I'm talking about the new one, it just seems like a funky cyborg Spider-Man swinging through the debris of the torn metropolis. Hopefully it'll be pretty cool though. Capcom rarely disappoints, so I'm not too worried.
