Disgaea is awesome, and Disgaea on PSP is even more awesome.

I'm just giving it a trial run before picking up the official package, but hot damn I love this game.  I always wanted it on a portable system when playing it on PS2, though, so when I heard it was coming to PSP I was really happy.  It took a long time to get here, but it was worth it.  The port is perfect.  Smooth and fast, nice looking, and just feels totally natural for the PSP.  Check it out.

EDIT - I'd also just like to add that no screen has ever made me want to play a game more than this one:

That's from Disgaea 2 and stuff, but... yeah.

Damn, Disgaea 3?  I had no idea about it, I really need to play the second one.

I put in a ton of time into this over the weekend... it's such a great game.  It's built entirely for obsessive hardcore weirdos, but instead of that being a turnoff for me like it normally would with an RPG, everything is so quirky and oddball and different that it just gets more and more interesting the more you discover.

I sort of knew all this already, of course, but I just never got very far with it on PS2 because I didn't feel I could invest the time.  But being able to just play it wherever, that helps so much because it makes it so much more feasible to get as obsessive with it as it begs you to.  You can just get through the story and have fun well enough without being too crazy about it, but there's so much extracurricular stuff the game just seems like it's begging you to ditch responsibility and waste a little more time.

Necrobump! I'm playing this again. I still love it. And for all the time I've spent on it, I've never gotten very far and never even considered touching the sequels. I've been busting out my PSP again lately and remembered how much I like it as a system. It just feels good, battery lasts, screen is big and bright... threw in PixelJunk Monsters for a bit too, which was fun, and brought back a few other games from my trip home to Cali. Maybe someday I'll actually give an honest-to-goodness second attempt at FFT: War of the Lions. I loved it the first time but it was just too much game for me.
