If anyone cares, you can see the list of achievements here. This is just someones steam page, and it seems they haven't completed any yet. Warning, there are spoilers in there. Its mostly just stuff you'll do during the game with only a few extras tacked on.

Not to encourage anyone to use Steam, but this is a game that would actually lend itself fairly well to achievements just because you can play it in a very completionist kind of way. Although the counter-argument is that you don't need achievements because the game is built in such a way as to encourage and reward all that stuff naturally, so it's almost pointless to bother "enhancing" it.

On the one hand I feel good that my money went directly to the developers and not to Steam bullshit.

On the other hand, I *did* pay 20 dollars and the next day it came out for $15. So I feel a little ripped off. I know it's worth it, but still. That's bullshit.

Yeah I completely agree. What I was trying to say is, I feel a little betrayed by the developers. I didn't mind paying $20. It's a good price for the game. And I can see why they put it on Steam - they want access to that market. But why sell it for less? That's a slap in the face to the people who bought it for $20.

Yeah, that is bullshit. I'm glad it's on STEAM and would like to see it hit Live Arcade! as well, but I imagine a lot of people got screwed out of $5. It's not a large amount of money, but it still kind of is bullshit.

Personally, I'd also kind of like the achievements, but whatever.

I doubt many people are upset. I'm not really that upset. I would buy it from them again as well. I just don't understand why they didn't sell it from Steam to begin with. They gave loyal customers a week to buy it from them before they gave them the option to get it for $5 cheaper. It just seems odd to me.

Just a note: the issue I was having with the new version of the game has been resolved. Alec is a wonder with the tech support. Seriously, he's fixed some bugs within mere hours of them being reported.

I loved the exploration & discovery in such a visually and musically relaxing atmosphere. Gaining abilities to help progress is always a good thing too. But the boss fights I could have done without, particularly the harder ones later on. Great game overall. Glad you're into it.

I loved the whole thing from start to finish. Yeah, it's fairly freeform, at least more than some similar games. You can do a fair number of things in weird orders if you want to.

I completely forgot about this game. I was waiting for a Linux release, because there seemed to be one pending. But then one of the devs got back to me and said there wouldn't be one and I basically abandoned it.

I might look into it again here soon. With a wedding in the next year, money isn't exactly something I have much of.

So Aquaria: Sacrifice is finally out. It's a mod that's been a long time in the making, made pretty much entirely by TheBear from the Bit Blot boards. I came into the project pretty late and edited the entirety of the script and stuff for him (and may continue to do so a bit in the future), and while it was quite a job at times, all the raw content is his. It's an awesome little mod, done in a pseudo-RPG style, and should add another maybe 3-5 hours of game for you to enjoy. It's based on the actual story of the original game and acts as a prequel.

If you're a fan of Aquaria, you should really give it a try. He put tons of effort into it, its really polished, and well worth a download. I put a ton of effort into it too, so, you know... I'd like it if you downloaded it also.

I have to advertise at least a little, or nobody will ever know I worked on it. Nobody on the forums really has any idea what I did other than "editing", and there's no readme included with the release. Pretty much the only person who knows or cares that I worked on it is the mod author.

Looks like the game is now available as a free beta for Linux until January 13th, according to the official site. On top of that, the soundtrack is now available digitally, though you should really snag the disks if you enjoy the music. It's a nice set.

Compliment, I assure you. I like the game a lot, it's just the first couple times I tried something got in the way and then after that I had to start over each time because I couldn't remember what to do. And who wants to play the first 25% of any game over and over again these days?
