Long Range Forcast 'till 2010: Laaaaaaame
« on: Sunday, December 02, 2007, 09:07:27 PM »
I'm starting a new degree part time after work.  It's a BTech in construction management, and I'll be doing two part time courses a semester until Sept. 2009, when I'll finish the last year full time.  The part that's gay is I'll be working more or less full time during all of this, and I still have like 6 courses left in my BA.

I better be fucking balling in 2011.

Long term plans are starting to scare me... mostly because I realize that anything I plan to last 5 years or more will put me in my 30s.  :o  which quite honestly scares the shit out of me.

Dude, I know.  A few months ago I was talking to a couple of my roomates about how on our 30th birthdays we'll all pretend they're bachelor parties and just go nuts.  Then we realized we're talking about it like it's 10 years away when it's totally not.  Then I got depressed.  I haven't gotten undepressed since.

I try to avoid it as much as possible.  I just moved back into my parents house for a few months to save money.  That's a good start at regressing in age.

I'm honestly a little jealous, although my mom and I don't get along at all when I'm living there.  Can't me and all my friends just be independently wealthy with no responsibilities other than drinking, screwing and doing cool shit?

The trick to it is putting yourself in that mindset.  See, ever since originally moving out after highschool, I have never lived in a situation which nurtured responsibility.  I've lived in like  5 party houses, and everyone probably better then the last.  The house I just lived in for two years contained 3 'young proffesionals', 2 full time students, and one rotating roomate.  It was a lot like living in a party house in university, but everyone had more money so it was even more ridiculous.

Coming out of that I was faced with the prospect of living in an apartment with one or two other people.  I can't think of anything that would bore the shit out of me more. So I figure I'll save some cash and then get my own apartment where I can do sketchy shit and not tell anyone about it (read: dirty girls).

But as someone once described it to me: "After you turn twenty, you're in a new tier of responsibility.  You remain in that tier until at least thirty. If you move up before thirty, you're playing the game wrong and you're really only cheating yourself."

My long range forecast: graduate then join the military. I hope to begin to start a family at around 30 so I guess that's my longer-range forecast.

You're lucky.  If I make a 3-month plan that puts me in my thirties.

The thought scares me as well, but then pretty much everything does these days.  The older I get, the more I get overloaded with all the shit that I hate about life.  It won't abate until I can retire, and then at best I'll be old and probably in lousy shape, or at worst dead because I have no means to live through the anticipated American financial collapse.

Now I remember why I go to Que for my cheerful, long-term forecasts. :)

If you're healthy and stay in shape, you will be a young man until well into your 40s.  Trust me on that one.  Don't let the numbers scare you.

I like plans but I live by not having any because I never know what's going to happen.  I just try to keep healthy so I'm ready for whatever comes my way.

i do plan day by day.. but i feel keeping healthy is planning for longterm.  The doctor has told me I have a young body but old heart.  It's not a great comfort to know but whatever at least i know what i'm dealing with longterm.

30...  i'm only 3 years away from that.. birthdays come and birthdays go but i'm still me.. my body feels older but not ME. i just feel like me.. that's all

Taken.

By the time I'm 30, the Arctic should be removed of ice and the world will be a very different place. Who can plan with all these variables?

You forgot to mention how your breasts will have sagged so much they'll be somewhere around your waist.
