I've read that the majority of suicide bombers are young males who've never had sex and who might be gay.
Well being gay is a sin in Islam, and most of these suicide bombers know that pretty well, so I doubt they'd be gay. I personally wouldn't relate suicide bombing to a lack of sex, but more to other frustrations and a lack of understanding of their own religion.
A Muslim is supposed to live his life by two things. The first is the Quran, and the other is Hadith. Hadith are basically incidents from the life of Prophet Mohammad, that express his philosophy. A Muslim is supposed to look at these documented incidents, and take example. Hadith can range from things Mohammad did, to the sentiments he expressed. Muslims follow hadiths mostly put together by a scholar named Imam Abu Bukhari, who dedicated his life to putting all authenticated hadith together.
As a child in school at Saudi Arabia, I had Islamic Studies as a subject. Here are some brief versions of hadiths that I was taught as a kid, which I believe most Muslims are taught growing up. I'll keep them short, and am just relating the ones that apply to suicide bombings, burning embassies over perceived insults etc.
1. There was a woman who would regularly throw trash on the Prophet whenever he passed by her home. She hated him for whatever reason and cussed his name out in public. Yet the prophet chose to ignore her. When his companions asked why he didn't have her punished, he said that her act was innocuous and could be solved by compassion. (Yes cheesy, but you get the point.)
2. The prophet's closest companion, Omar was walking through a mosque with his bodyguards when he nearly stepped on someone in the dark. The man automatically cussed at Omar. When Omar's guards tried to hit the man, Omar stopped them claiming it wasn't the behavior of a Muslim. He said that the man's only crime was cursing his name, and shouldn't be met with violence. (Doesn't directly involve the Prophet, but sends a message)
3. Someone asked the Prophet his thoughts on committing suicide. The Prophet replied by saying that the act wasn't allowed under any circumstances. He said a person taking his life was immediately going to find himself in the fires of hell etc.
4. Finally on the killing of innocents. After winning a war against an opposing tribe that had killed the family members of those who followed The Prophet, Mohammad was asked what should be done with the prisoners. The Prophet said that Allah had instructed that the survivors not be harmed. And that all children, men and women be treated justly and with as much kindness as possible.
The prophet said many times that under no circumstances were innocents allowed to be harmed during a period of war. He stated many times that women and children were protected especially, as were the elderly. All those males who had not raised arms against them were protected as innocents.
Also men of the cloth were protected, whether they be Jews or Christians. Any person in a religious building like a church wasn't allowed to be harmed. Heck I even remember reading that buildings were protected as were monuments. Basically any one or thing that didn't raise arms directly against was protected.
5. A group of people from a tribe that was against the prophet were hiding on the land of the Muslims, eating what livestock they came upon. When they were discovered, the Prophet let them go with respect saying,"Any person that eats our salt and lives on our land, is to be treated with the respect of a guest."
Yea so those are some of the hadith I learned before I was ten, at school. Most of those are taught to 90% of the Muslim kids in the more developed countries. My point is, that Muslims aren't allowed to kill innocents like women and children, or men who don't direct harm at them etc. Suicide is also not allowed. Heck you are supposed to treat foreigners better when they are on your soil. And if the prophet didn't burn people for cussing his name, or mocking him, then what gives these pricks the right?
Are there brothels everywhere? Is porn sold by shady-looking men in overcoats, like drugs are here? Are the streets teeming with dangerously undersexed young men?
There is some truth to what you say, but I wouldn't go that far. Everything is possible behind closed doors.
