Thank God it finally died.  All it really ended up being in the end was a bunch of gay guys posting fucking pictures of body builders.  It was truly pathetic.  RIP.  I dunno' if the "HomoMojo" place is still around, but at least this one avenue to get there is gone, and the once-good name of AOG can stop being sullied.

Kinda makes you wonder what the hell DuckFat wanted from AOG? It went from a games media website that preaches tolerance, to gay politics... and now it is just softcore gay stuff.

So... what the hell?

It's upside down from a smiley.  : )  <3

We were never associated with HomoMojo, so they can go as deep into the pit as they want.  AOG I was a part of once.

I checked on this a while ago and was very surprised at the turn that homomojo had taken.  It seems it's gotten even more ridiculous and with the way it's going they'll have full male on male fucking on the front page in about 4 months.

Whatever.  Duckfat had a choice; he could do something unique that had a chance of carving it's own niche while retaining some integrity, or he could try to do the same thing tons of others were already doing and end up fighting over traffic with other sites that simply cater to various overdone aspects of the gay community.  He made his decision, took the site in the direction he thought would bring it success and essentially had to pander to the LCD of the segment he wanted to attract.  So, now he has sweaty and gay workout vids, shitty conspiracy theory movies, and a forum in which it doesn't seem like anyone posts.

Obviously, all of us leaving in itself had something to do with the decline, but why the fuck would I be involved in the editorial content on a site that only really targets the gay community and the issues they find important?  It'd be like writing for a Woman's magazine or a religious newsletter.  I'm so detached from how they identify themselves that it'd be retarded.

Whatever, that's the decision he made.  I don't dislike the guy for it, and he was right in the respect that we're not the most welcoming people on the internet.   But there's a good reason for that:  "LOLOLOLOL! CHINGY IS SO HOT.  OMG".  Seriously, scaring fucks like that off was the biggest benefit this community provided Duckfat.  Look what happened in absence of our disdain for morons.

Its a true shame what happened with you guys and the fallout from all that AOG stuff with Duck.

You all worked so hard for that guy and he puts the knife in your back and seems to self destruct into various degrees of madness.

Pug, Que and anyone else that worked really hard there had Duck not gone crazy AOG would've continued to grow in popularity and membership until the site was on the level of other popular game sites like 1up.com and Halo.Bungie.Org and any others you can think of.

What I'm getting at is AOG could've been huge.

Not IGN or Gamespot huge of course but one of the mid range solid sites that people go to, to get the truth when they are done trying to find meaning in a Gamespot or IGN game article.

I mean weren't you guys already getting your AOG reviews mentioned on videogame boxes like Morrowind Pug?

We just got our "editor's choice" symbol up on there since I gave Morrowind said award.  That was a cool moment, even if a little meaningless, hehe.  Pug I think actually got quoted on a box for... Wizardry 8, was it?

Yea on the Wizardry 8 box. I already had the game, so couldn't justify spending $50 for a new box that had my name on it heh.

We also got mentioned on PC Gamer twice... once for being a website that preaches tolerance etc.

I also wrote the first review on the internet for SIMGolf. I gave it a glowing review and scored it at 90% or something. I know for a fact that PCG read that review. :P

Also found my really crazy quotes on official websites plenty of times hehe. Duck was really good at marketing us. I had reviews to SIMgolf, Fifa, NWN2, GTA3 PC, Civ 3 among others that were quoted on official websites. In fact some of my quotes were embarrassingly bad, yet they got us hits heh.

For example I wrote in the Fifa review "The game play has been slowed down now. Now players won't run around like they are high on angel dust, at speeds even unattainable by superman."

I cringe now whenever I read that, but it was on the top of the official Fifa website for days. I was so happy, and Xessive couldn't believe they put it up :P

In the GTA3 review I wrote a poem on the game. Yes... I did that. It was so bad, I am not going to post it. But it was on the website as well.

Those were some good times.

Holy crap -- NWN2 didn't come out until last year!

How'd you get it so early, back in your AOG days? :P

God, given how the game turned out upon its original release, on an early build, NWN2's load-times and in-game performance must've been pretty bad, in that case... :P

I'll be honest. I was going to make it a surprise or whatever, but oh well... I'll just blurt it all out.

I am looking to hire a web designer to expand my work etc., and am in the talks of hiring someone within the next few months. Aside from my work related website, I am going to have the dude design a professional gaming website for us with the right mix of casual/seriousness that we want. It will have a proper RSS system to handle the news page etc... plus it will be designed well on a technical level, so that people can upload their work etc like professionals etc. It will have podcasts, news, previews, reviews... a blog editorial style page, where the entire community can contribute. The guy has a really good php coder on his team, so everything will be taken care of.

In terms of review scores, I always wanted a 100 point percentile system, but I think most of here don't so, I don't care... we can have a 4 star system, or whatever everyone wants. Besides, a 4 star system just means less arguments or whatever. I think we could argue all day if someone gave Call of Duty 4 a 100% score, but if someone gave it a 4 our of 4 star score, then it wouldn't upset people as much... incl. the readers. And to be honest, I am going to be turning 30 soon, and I don't give a shit about review scores like I did when I was younger.

I just need time, but you will be writing again soon Que. I would say this could take another 3-6 months... but you and Cobra should get ready to edit a whole lot of grammar. :P

I plan to have a nice simple clean look, that looks classy and professional. At the same time, I don't want it to look like Kotaku, though joystiq looks good. I spoke to the webdesigner on Friday actually, and he asked me what sort of look I wanted.

Any suggestions on color schemes would be welcome. He actually wants examples of websites, so if anyone has any they like, please post about them.

When work on it starts, I will post updates periodically to get input. If the majority hates something, we will change it.

As much as I hate IGN, I like how it looks mostly. I also like how gamer20.com looks.

Once we get going, we can probably interview Greg Kasavin :P

Yup.

Hopefully we can get a bunch of talented people to process the writing etc. Also, I don't think any of us have the energy/time that we did in our AOG days... I just remember hating gaming at times because I was rushing through them for a review. I don't want that more. We pay for games, and we should enjoy them without any pressure.

But this way, you can finally do a Demigod review that does the game justice.

But I really missed writing on games. I remember I would feel a bit emptiness after the death of AOG, every time I finished a game, because I couldn't give my input anymore.

By the way, I can help with podcast production. Aside from my leather business, I've been doing a part-time multimedia degree on the side. Just started the semester on film making and sound editing. :P
