It scares me that we can tinker with so many things genetically. And, more to the point, that we do it simply for the sake of doing it. Why would we ever want to get rid of fear?

And they shall know no fear.

FEAR DENIES FAITH!

Haha seriously though, it is bordering on insane reasoning.

They didn't exactly remove fear, they just removed their ability to sense something they would naturally be afraid of (with good reason).

True, but more to the point the experiment suggests that fear itself is a genetic not a learned trait.

Stupid.

They're not doing it "for the sake of doing it." They're doing it, partially, because these same techniques could be used to treat a lot of diseases. They can experiment on either mice or sick kids, and quite frankly sick kids cost a lot of money.

Even if they don't have any particular reason for doing the research, so what? It's potentially useful knowledge.

They got rid of a smell receptor, which apparently destroys a mouse's ability to recognize a cat as a cat. They were probably inspired by the toxoplasmosis parasite, which does something very similar.

This would all be incredibly obvious to you if only you had been reading psychobiology research, oh, around the time I took that psychobiology class.

While W&C is correct, in that these baby steps are necessary on the road to something greater... I don't think he is in any position to call anyone stupid after the hero worshiping he has shown for Peter Petrelli... :P (I have no idea how to spell that last name, nor do I care.)

I'm all for curing diseases but I don't like the negative repercussions that result from tinkering with genetics.

I am personally all for it. I think life isn't exciting enough as it is with religious folk going crazy, nukes on the black market, trigger happy governments, global warming, and tons of new viruses that may end life as we know it...

I WANT TO SEE GENETIC FREAKS!

Total recall promised that three boobed chick so long ago....

If you can promise me a three-boobed chick then I may ease my skepticism a little bit.

I'm not here to enlighten you. I'm here to call you an idiot.

What "negative repercussions" would those be?

Do you really think that we will tinker with genetics only to cure diseases?

Also, kindly pull your head out of your ass. Thanks.

That was pretty cool, I've only seen Jim Carey imitate that bit in Man on the Moon.
