Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles (TV)
« on: Monday, January 14, 2008, 07:20:10 PM »
Did anyone watch this premiere of this new show last night on FOX?
Anyone watching the new episode right now on FOX?

The acting from Lena Headley (from 300, Imagine Me And You) and Summer Glau (from Firefly series and Serenity movie) namely has worked well.

Though, the plot is so far very, very thin and seems like right now, it ain't adding up to much yet -- probably b/c it expects you to seen all the Terminator movies (it refers to them) and that this series is just beginning...

...Though, at least the action on the show's been pretty good -- and the stand-out of the show, so far.

I expected it to suck; actually majorly suck.
So far, it's been just okay -- would be better if the plot had more to it.

Shit, I forgot to set my DVR to record this, hopefully it was the same episode as the pilot I downloaded a couple of months ago, the pilot was intriguing enough for me to look into watching more episodes, hopefully the series turns out to be decent.

I wanted to see this but I missed it.  It's hard to say how it will be though.  The Terminator series has really lost a lot of its appeal when the third movie came out.

I hear this TV series treats it as if the third movie never happened.  But, a fourth movie is now in the works.  So you have two contradicting storylines.

I think the main problem is that the Terminator series sucks now that I'm not 12.

That's pretty much what I was thinking.

So whats the verdict?  I was planning to watch it the other night on TV out of morbid curiosity, but I forgot.  is this going to be worth watching?

When the 1st movie came out, it was exceptional.  My brothers and I loved it.  The 2nd movie was very good in its own right.  They should have stopped there.

The show's so-so. Better than the Blade TV series. The chick who plays Sarah Connor (Lena Headey from 300) is hot. Anyway, it seems alright so far. Though the guys playing Terminators are no Arnies.

I'm the other way around on it hehe

I like Ms. Headey, she's emotes well enough to be a frantic but somehow cold and calculating Sarah Connor.

Summer Glau was great in The 4400. I guess she makes an alright Terminator. Her first line after it's revealed that she's a Terminator is "Come with me if you want to live." That was reminiscent but meh

Terminator 1 & 2 stand the test of time.

T2 especially.

The reason the franchise is deteriorating is because James Cameron the creator of the franchise has been pushed aside while his great work has been placed in the hands of morons.

Sadly that's the case with several great artworks.

I just hope Christian Bale isn't making a mistake by deciding to be John Connor in the next Terminator movie, Terminator: Salvation.

Oh yeah, McG is directing...

I go out of my way to see Bale in a flick, but I won't go see that crap or probably even rent it.

So I've been keeping up with the show and just finished the first season. Overall, I think it's been pretty damned good. There's a lot of stuff going on and it's all pretty interesting. It doesn't work the same way as the movies in that more or less all of the action has been dropped as things continued. Of course there are brief Terminator moments, but more or less the show is mystery/drama and it works really well. Lena Headey has stepped up the plate and made Sarah Connor her own, but something separate from Linda Hamilton's take. It's all very enjoyable.

Hopefully Fox won't be Fox and the second season will be picked up. The show deserves some attention and I'll be happy to see it continue.

My thoughts exactly.  The season finale was crazy, though it wouldn't surprise me if Fox pulled some dumb shit with it like they do with all their shows.

I'm 5 episodes in and Im really not liking it, for the reasons that you do like it. I hate the lack of action and a lot of the drama just seems stupid to me (the high school bullshit is boring me to tears). Lena Headey is alright I guess, the kid that plays John Connor gets more emo with each episode. I actually like the FBI agent but his character isnt going anywhere. It just feels like the show is moving too slow for me. I'll keep watching it till the end and see what happens, I hope it starts moving though.

I can't fathom how any of you can stomach this stuff in the first place.  The movies were cool and all, at least in spots, but I just can't deal with all the time travel bullshit.  If you want to murder good fiction before it has a chance to live, throw in some time travel.  The only exception I've ever come across is Soul Reaver.

I gotta agree with you man.

In the Terminator series I kinda sideline the time travel idea and just take the rest of the story as is. It's just the way my mind chose to cope with it.

I think the time travelling was alright in Chrono Trigger too :)
