I've got a date? Me!
« on: Tuesday, January 29, 2008, 12:01:16 PM »
So I’ve been putting in the ground work with this chick for a few weeks now, coffees and walks along the water front (the weather has been really outstanding) this was all during our lunch breaks etc. Then last Friday I met up with her and her friends in town I brought a few wing men with me to even the numbers and it seemed to go well, I think I’ve past the friends test. So yesterday I asked her out to dinner this Saturday.
So holy crap I’ve got a date.
Now I’ve never approached a relationship this way, in fact I haven’t been in many relationships and the last one we just fell into bed (and I woke up some months later in a nightmare).
So I’ve got a decent enough place in mind, posh but not too posh, a sort of play it safe for food wise place, and I’m thinking about going elsewhere for desert.

Oh man…. I’ve got a date!

You'd better not blow it...

:)

Edit: I just had a great idea. You should strap a camera to yourself and stream the video to us. Then we could give you advice about what to say throughout the date.

Que makes it sound like a business venture. :P

Que: It was expensive, time consuming, but I finally achieved my goals.

Julia: Is that what I was to you ?!?

Que: But honey....

Heh, actually, Julia and I didn't really "date" that much.  We mostly just hung out and I lured her to her doom with video games.  My previous girlfriends were more interested in running around draining my wallet than sitting at home watching a movie... though actually, now that I think about it, they weren't that bad either.  I can't stand high maintenance chicks.

Yeah a few people have said that. I don't think she'll be high maintenance I just wanted to put my best foot forward now but I'd much rather just hang out you know?

What the fuck am I doing?
This has been a crap night, not date night but man what a shit night, I'm questioning everything about Saturday night (date night) I booked a table at a 'posh' steak house (everyone wants to go there) and then I find out she doesn't eat steak! I don't have a clue where else to go and I need to tell her something tomorrow. I swear maybe a little help from her about what she actually likes... I just don't have a clue I'm going go to and play something violent like GTA.  ::)

Stop stressing out. Figure out a decent place that has a wide variety. She will like chicken. Every girl eats chicken. Find a place with some damn chicken.

Edit: The tone of that sounded much calmer when I was typing that. I didn't mean it to come off otherwise. :D

Don't over think anything. Just be casual, talk to her, see what she wants to do, and take it from there. That's my advise anyway.

why not take her to a buffet?  Or a mongolian grill place!  those are always fun because there's a whole variety and you put the ingredients you want in a bowl and give it to the guy who sautes it all?

Well I took Risa's advice about the buffet meal and tried to get a spot on a harbor cruise but that fell through.  :(
With the Wellington 7s on this weekend everything's rammed or going to be rammed so there wasn't many options and I was getting frustrated by her total indifference to everything I suggested, a fucking yes or no would have been nice. It started to feel like I was pushing or that I would be dragging her along which wasn't a nice feeling.  :(

So I postponed it and she agreed it would have been difficult and that she could do drinks next Saturday (after dinner with her friends), so I think there’s some interest. But maybe a definitive yes or no to my suggestions would have been good, I  don’t mind doing the leg work but make me feel that your keen or something.

It sounds like she's having second thoughts too or is being wary.  I guess just postpone it till she seems more excited?

I've always been of the opinion that chicks who do shit like this aren't worth the time anyways.  If they're going to play that game right off the fucking bat, what else are they going to try to pull.  This isn't 1920, throw a guy a bone.

Is there any way you can work this out to do something that doesn't involve dinner?

Could be drinks on Saturday night, hopefully they'll be somewhere without a live band playing in our ears so we can actually hear what's being said this time.
