I'm rooting for the Giants, for no reason other than I work with an insufferable Pats fan and I want to make fun of him on monday.

I hope Tom Brady gets tied to all of his illegitimate children, they all run off in different directions and rip him into pieces.

Well, I was rooting heavily against the Pats. I used to live with this guy that loved the Patriots. And he was a tool. So I'm happy that they lost.

I did start laughing out loud when they handed Eli Manning the keys to his NEW CADILLAC during his victory speech and then panned over to the car. Give me a break. There's commercialism and then there's shoving it down our throats. Let me watch some damn football.

Man...that was so painful to watch.

However, it's just so weird to actually see a whole city's demeanor change in the span of mere hours. In the last two weeks before the game, there was this huge buzz and everyone seemed to have this smug attitude, that we were already champions. I guess all the pressure was just too much. After the game, all I could see down Dorchester Ave. is people filing out of bars, with some full grown men crying...CRYING.

It was just so odd because in retrospect it's just a game. Yeah, it sucks that we lost, but that's what we get when we're spoiled with championships when other cities like Philadelphia or Buffalo have not had a title in any sport in decades. Congrats to the Giants defense for stopping the Patriots in every conceivable way. The Patriots offense decided to have the one game almost every great team has in a season in the Super Bowl, and that's a demoralizing loss that brings players back down to earth and shed lights on their vulnerability.

BTW, I'm incredibly high and drunk right now, bummed as hell, so none of this rambling probably makes any sense.

I, on the other hand, got a call from the estranged contingent of my family in NY, hooting and hollering in glee.  I was at my brother's at the time, where everyone was likewise cheering for the Giants.  As little as I generally care about football, I must admit to being impressed with the final drive to that winning TD.  Exciting stuff.  Great game.

I wish I had somebody to watch with.  I really do enjoy sports from time to time, but I just don't really have much fun watching alone.  It's something that seems better suited to a group for some reason.  So I just kind of don't... but I do like a good excuse for beer and food and company.

The first three quarters of that were boring as shit. But I was pretty impressed with the Giants in the last bit of the game. Awesome drive. I do have to admit though, even though the first three quarters were kind of meh, it was cool to see the defenses go at it. They were both pretty bad ass.

And I actually enjoyed the half time show this year for some reason.

You thought it was boring? I was on the edge of my seat, I don't really like the Giants...but I despise the patriots.

Could it be because it was Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers performing every tune I thought they would, including "Runnin' Down a Dream" as a finale?  I was pumped.  Those guys can really perform well live too.  He's showing his age, but he's still here.  He looked excited when the set was over, didn't he?  Man, that mini-concert alone must have been worth the price of admission.

The game was never boring.  It was a defensive duel most of the way, so there weren't many times to jump up and cheer.  But it sure kept my interest.

What eddie said.

Our super bowl party went from an awesome good time to a depressing whine fest.  It really was extremely disappointing because the pats played like shit.  The defensive line was horrendous which caused Brady to have the worst game I've seen him play.  Wes Welker was fucking clutch as always -- that man can play some fucking ball.  11 receptions total, and he managed to snag almost every shitty pass that Brady threw in his direction.  It just wasn't enough.

Granted, the Giants have an incredible defense and nobody can out rush them, but the pats just dropped the ball.  With all the pressure, NY played a damn good game of football, though, that's for sure.  Intense stuff.

I'm so glad the Giants won.  I hate the friggin' Patriots.  Plus Jennie was originally a Giants fan before I converted her into a Bengals fan.  And I work with Jared Lorenzen's (Eli Mannings' backup) brother.

Anyway, that was one of the best Super Bowls I've ever seen.  It was even better than that one where the Titan's lost when Steve McNair ran it to the 1 yard line but just couldn't get in as time expired.

Wes Welker is pretty awesome, but I'd still take T.J. Houshmandzadeh over him.  I think T.J. is just as tough and clutch as Wes, but has a larger toolset.

I didn't watch the game

but I'm glad the Patriots didn't win because they're a bunch of filthy cheaters who didn't deserve to win the superbowl and complete a perfect season. They already cheated to get the perfect regular season.

If anything, The Pats last night looked like the 2001 Rams -- the best offensive team on paper for they year, but they didn't really put it out there when they needed to; especially like they usually do.

This year's NY Giants been looking like The 2001 NE Pats for quite a while -- they're definitely not the best team written on paper when it comes to talent, but they were definitely still that extremely hungry, scrappy team w/ the heart, determination, and a bit of luck that would somehow find a way to pull out the win; the underdogs. A solid offense and defense; well-rounded team. And after last night's victory (for The Giants), well -- it's even more of a reflection of that NE 2001 season; that's deja vu, if I ever seen it occur.

I think the whole 13-point spread in favor of The Pats for last night's game was ridiculous, myself -- especially after the great game the Giants gave the Pats back in the regular season. Talk about the Giants getting a lack of respect, especially the contest they gave them -- gimmie a break.

13 points in the Super Bowl??? Me, I was picking the Pats by 7 points, myself...

The Pats really didn't do enough to win last night. They did not deserve it. All the mistakes that were made by The Pats, Giants capitalized on. And all of the missed opportunities The Giants tried to hand to The Pats on a silver platter, they just didn't capitalize on.

The interception and fumbles made by the Giants, early on -- Pats didn't capitalize on those at all. Whether it was Giants recovering their own fumble or the Pats not doing anything w/ the ball, they didn't do anything to put it away.

Didn't want to go for 50 year field goal?? B/c of Field positiion, Bill Belichick??? What??? In the first half, the kicker (Kastowski) should've been given the green light to go for that approximately 50 yard field goal; especially in a dome! His career long is 52 yards and he has been known to hit 50 yarders in practice no problem. At least take a shot at it; especially since Brady was off a good deal of the whole first half -- what made them think on 4th and 13, they'd get a first down??? Crazy. The Pats really should've went for that field goal. Even if they missed it, they would've lost a few yards, if they missed it -- so what? Even a punt would've been better than to go for it on 4th and 13, given how off Brady was.

The Giants front-four were awesome on defense, rattling Brady a good majority of the night. Unfortunately, The Pats' line couldn't do anything about it, most of the game. Didn't really help The Pats that Neal got injured, either....just made it even easier for the Giants to rattle Brady some more all night.

In 4Q, Absolutely ridiculous that 3 guys were all over Eli Manning and they could not pull him down. In most cases, as long as he was held, that whistle would've been blown by the refs to save the QB so he don't get killed when thrown down to the ground (that whole "save the quarterback" thing); that would've probably ended the game and its momentum. But, it was let go by the refs b/c it is the Super Bowl -- and somehow, like Houdini (on his best day), Manning got his way out of the jam. Amazing heart and determination. Give credit where it's due.

That catch was amazing from Tyree. A lot of skill and indeed a little bit of luck -- I still can't believe he Tyree came away with that, one hand with the ball on his helmet and not letting that ball hit the ground. Amazing.

The two shots at interceptions near the end of the game in the 4Q that the Pats dropped -- that could've ended the game, basically. But, nope -- couldn't keep their hands on the ball.

Ellis Hobbs has been getting burned all year long -- and in the final game-winning play of the game, Burress burned him, when it mattered most. No real surprise Hobbs got burned.....AGAIN. It's time for The Pats to get younger on defense; we're getting old on defense, which is kind of like the Yankees have been getting too old for the past few years.

The NE Pats defense has been getting progressively worse, over the years since they have beaten the 2001 Rams. They were basically mediocre, most of this year. The only thing they really did good was in the red-zone defense, most of this entire year. Other than that, the Pats gave up a lot of big 3rd down plays, all year long.

Of course, Eli was eventually bound to win one in NY, sooner or later. I mean, c'mon -- all NY needed really was a QB. And well, he made sure him and his agent were vocal to trade him to some other team during that '04 Draft. WTH? You should be happy the NFL drafts you to ANY TEAM; even if they were 4-12 the previous year. For all we knew, he could've help ignite the spark to turn San Diego around.

About Shockey -- I wonder if he might be a little worried about his job, after last night's game...They really didn't need him to win, now did they??

Regardless, congrats to NY Giants. They definitely deserved their win last night.

No way the refs would have or should have blown the whistle on that Manning scramble.  He wasn't wrapped up at all.  They basically just had a hold of his jersey and he was moving around.

Then again, Mike Carey (the Super Bowl ref) did call Justin Smith for roughing the passer in one of the most flagrantly bad calls I've ever seen when he sacked Gratowski or whoever Tampa Bay's quarterback was last year.

Hobbs blows.  He has been a huge disappointment for too long and he wasn't even near Burress on that play.

The better question is why the hell Burress wasn't double covered on that play.  Leave Hobbs alone to cover their top receiver at a time like that - nice.  Certainly I'm no coach or expert, and I'm sure they're smarter than me in their expertise but it pissed me off because it really wasn't a shock.

The grab for Manning there at the end was just bad playing by the Pats.  Come on now.  On the other hand, I did catch a few plays that really needed the whistle.  Catch that facemask to Samuel (I think it was Samuel) on the 45 yard pass?  No way he'd have gotten that ball without it.

Also, I am bitter.

Maybe Belicheck's covert intelligence said that the Giants were running a different play?
