Im very curious to hear about impressions of the game. I dont trust Gamespots review so I want to hear from someone who got it... and I remember someone mentioning that they were going to. I think it was Tet.

Since I'm so into FF XII, and this game is supposed to come from some of the FF talent, I looked into it.  I was disappointed to see that they've clung to the traditional FF turn-based battle system, with some real-time targeting-ring mechanic.  It looks to me like it might be a very pretty clone of the FF X games.  I have no intention to buy it at this point.  Random turn-based battles are in my past, and should stay there except for nostalgia.

Actually, I'm not completely sure they are random.  I should make sure before I bad-mouth.

It may have been me, I don't know.  I do know I've been tracking it for some time.  I was a little disappointed with the GS score, but it seems everyone is in agreement.  I'll wait for a demo or perhaps I'll rent it.  If I do I'll be sure to let you know.

I sort of second Cobra's thoughts, though I think I can tolerate archaic battle systems better than he can.  The problem is this game just looks great and moves well for some of its cutscenes and stuff, and then it sort of seamlessly transitions into battle and all of a sudden everything just stops.  Something about that is horribly off-putting to me, and it happened in a number of videos I watched.

Sure, the turn based battles do sometimes cut into the flow of the game, I actually don't mind it.  I grew up on these kinds of battles and it's a nice little nostalgic touch.  It might not be for everyone, but I very much like it.  The battles are traditional, but there's little touches I like, like switching equipment in mid-battle to suit your enemy's type and whatnot. 
But battles aside, if you like long in-depth stories and cutscenes and whatnot, you should like this.  It's pretty intriguing, and there have got to be some of the saddest moments in this game.  Especially the memories, it's all text, but damn if it isn't well written and involving text.
I'm very into it so far.  Just got to the second disc.
And that's another thing, this game is 4 discs long.  It brought back memories of the old PS RPGs.  So, yea. those are my thoughts on this.

I was listening to a podcast the other day where a guy was playing this.  Apparently those text segments are like really popular on YouTube and stuff, people have really acknowledged how good they are.  I guess they're written by some famous Japanese author, so there's a reason they're so good.

Holy cow, 4 DVDs.  This one would be more at home on the PS3, on one Blu-ray disc.
