Holy fuck, it only gets better:
"I would hate to see my work looked down upon because someone feels it is right to attempt controversy."
That's from some other writer in the same paper. Notice the wording there; it's pretty much a given that they think it is unethical to stir the pot. Now I know why no one ever publishes anything about Darfur or writes anything actually insightful about Israel/Palestine, Serbs/Albanians, Russians/Chec..Chech...whoever.
"You need to think about what is responsible to print, and that is not self-censorship. It's called news judgement ... but this piece does not belong on an opinion page. At least create a section for it so that your readers don't get confused ... and we're not the enemy. We are former students and current journalists who have been in your position and are offering advice as to what is responsible. Don't be so quick to brush us off."
And now I know why all the 'letters to the editor' in news papers and magazines are written by total morons; they're the only ones stupid enough to take any of these chumps seriously...and aparently they get confused very very easily.
I'm learning all kinds of things here. Sadly, most of them are really depressing in a "we're totally fucked" kind of way.
And Ghandi, come on now - we all know you're a nurse.
