That was an interesting read. Those years are recent history to me. One place I worked adopted Novell as the way to link all the PCs together. Before that, we passed floppy disks around. The one alarming bit for the present is that XP pre-SP2 can potentially lose all net connectivity if a certain buggy extension gets uninstalled.
I'm not worried about problems with my hardware or software anymore, or even their modem. If you read my thread in the Help section, you know I traced the problem to a "Red" status on the RR network affecting Cinci and Mason since the 25th. I found the link to the net status page on the North Carolina RR page, after searching for terms like "roadrunner outages" and "roadrunner network problems", and weeding out all the years-old crap. I figured it was their fault, but I hate not knowing for sure. Peace of mind is essential.
