BUS!

Since EA is the publisher, will it come w/ the invasive Securom w/ the 10-day periodic Internet validity check?

You could always go buy the game and then download the crack (if the game gets cracked) to avoid the issues, Idol...

That's what I do w/ StarForce-based games. I absolutely hate StarForce.

I refuse to buy a StarForce game, unless it's been cracked by a 3rd party or the game company officially removed its protection from the game in a patch.

I wouldnt do that because it gives publishers a false sense of endorsement. They can't tell the difference between me buying the game and being OK with the DRM, or me buying the game to crack it because I hate the DRM. If I don't buy the game at all, at least thats *something*.

(of course I'm pretty much joking. I don't pirate PC games because they are so damn large. It'd take me a month or more to get most recent releases. Just not worth it.)

That's an excellent point, Idol.

LOL @ that.

Hell, I didn't even like when STEAM decided to convert my Dark Messiah files and then convert and downloaded all 10+ GB of it into GCF files; which took around some 4 hours.

That 4 hours I could've been playing a game on that PC. Instead, I had no choice but to do something else...

Awesome.  As a huge fan of the series, I always wondered why it never hit the PC.

Very awesome.  I'll stick with PS3 just because it works fine on there and there's no real benefit in the case of a game like that for the PC platform (I mean there could be, but I don't think they'll do anything too special with it), but it is *absolutely* an awesome game and everyone who likes arcade racers should pick it up.  I haven't played it in a while, but there hasn't been a single time when I've thought about firing it up that it didn't seem appealing.  It's a great time sink, yet it also works if you just tool around for a little while now and again.  Very cool game.

Funny, too, because I'm pretty sure in one of their podcasts Criterion said explicitly that they wouldn't be doing a PC port.  Heh.  I wonder what changed their tune?

But yeah, hopefully EA doesn't fuck it over with DRM.  It's a cool game and a cool developer.

Maybe Criterion wants to do a Burnout MMO in the future? Heh.
I mean, if you're to do a MMO, the PC's the place to do it.

But, yeah -- I don't think an arcade-style racer has a major lock on on the PC market, really. Especially a good one w/ a strong MP component.

Maybe Criterion is trying to own that market? I dunno, but what other good arcade racers are on the PC? Need For Speed published by EA?

Especially even more so, since it's got a FREE Plan, too!

Oh fuck yes.  I was hoping and praying it would come out on PC, but assumed my hopes and prayers were pretty much pipe dreams since this is a first for the Burnout series.  The 360 demo was amazing and almost made me buy the game, but I'm glad I held out because I would much rather play the game on PC using a 360 controller with every possible graphics option my 8800gt can throw at me.

Here's news on the PC demo coming soon.

Looks like the demo's gonna be the full game, but it'll have a limited timer on it.

Well, it only makes sense. Due to the open nature of the city you drive in, you either get the whole game or no demo.

Though its EA, so the DRM will probably choke your dog.

The demo on PS3 wasn't on a time limit, it was restricted to certain areas though (no access to the whole city). It did a good job of showing off the game too. I nearly bought the PS3 version until I heard a PC version was in the works.

So, here's the real question -- will the hackers crack the time limit right off the demo? :P

No, the real question is when someone will develop DRM technology that will make your computer kill your pet when you pirate a game. It will happen.

That would be a huge mistake.  Someone will hack that limit away.

I think they know it will be pirated anyway, so they are trying an experiment here. Not too bad.

Sounds awesome.  I'm very anti-EA and likely anti-whatever-DRM-scheme-they're-using, but I really love this game and think it's worth the sacrifice of putting up with and supporting some bullshit to play it.  It's a phenomenal game.  I have the PS3 version, so I can't speak for PC in specific, but the game itself is absolutely top notch.

I really want to play this.
Does anybody know what DRM this ships with?

Wait...is Steam even selling this?

I don't believe it's on Steam yet.  I imagine it will be at some point.

Probably, since a lot of EA's recent games have also moved over there...
