Sometimes you win....and then you have money to blow
« on: Wednesday, May 28, 2008, 11:22:04 PM »
BLAH BLAH BLAH. Saved around $180 on some stuff I needed for work, so what do I go and do?

I go and buy a 9600GT for $108 (after a rebate) and some apparently pretty bad-ass headphones that bundle Assassin's Creed (PC) with them.  Total out of pocket before rebate?  Just a touch over $200.  If the card comes with a game, I'll be even more pumped.

Soooooooo.....anyone looking to buy a 7900GS that has been in use since last November for pretty cheap? Double lifetime warranty.

What if they were already laughing at you?

Nice buy, though.  I'm envious.

Thanks, and I just looked looked at the montly subscription fee for landlind and cell phone calls over the PC with Skype.  I'm back to thinking this is an awesome thing.

Skype is a pretty nifty program, I use it to talk to friend in Australia and a couple of college friends out of state sometimes when they don't want to talk on the phone.

So, I've been loving this card so far.  For the money I can't go wrong with the performance increase, and I've had some pretty decent offers on my old 7900Gs through craigslist (I paid $90 for it after rebate on another ncix special and will probably sell it for $50-60.  Ncix my friends, ncix is where you buy shit).

Anyways, new cards hitting the street tomorrow, pugs not here but from the one blurb I read on them overpriced.  The good news is that the 8800GT is already dropping in price like a rock.  At the place I bought my 9600 GT it's now the same price ($110), so anyone interested should look into it.  I've heard the 9600GT isn't going to drop in price as well because they just released the 9600 GSO to fill the lower price range and because the card draws less power and is aparently much quieter than a 8800GT it has it's own little niche market.  Either way, keep your eye on it because if that's bogus and it keeps the $40 gap between that and the now close to $100 8800GT you'll basically be stealing a card.

Hey, is the card AGP or PCIx? If its AGP then I would be interested in buying it.

Edit: Ah nevermind, looks like its PCIx only, oh well.

Yeah, sorry man it's PCIx.  As a side note though, it seems that a full scale GPU price war is about to start...maybe.
